Gentle Louise is a sweet girl with an amazing temperament who is ready to steal your heart! Louise has blossomed in foster care, showing her naturally calm and loving disposition. Despite her young age, Louise is remarkably laid-back and gentle, with just the right amount of playful puppy energy when it's time for fun! She has the softest medium-length coat. Louise is already housebroken and working on her leash training, showing how smart she is (though she does have that characteristic Pyr independence when it comes to commands!). She's reluctantly crate trained, but preferring to be with her people - a few treats help convince her it's kennel time. Louise gets along wonderfully with all sorts of furry friends! She currently lives with six dogs of various ages and four cats, showing her adaptable nature. She's particularly endearing with the cats, who love to crawl under her legs and rub against her. While she might occasionally chase the cats if they run, she generally interacts lovingly with them. This social butterfly is initially shy with new people but warms up quickly, never jumping or showing overbearing behaviors. Louise is a true family dog who just wants to be loved and included in all activities. She loves her Kong, chew toys, and bully sticks - and certainly won't turn down any other treats! She loves playing with other dogs, and would enjoy a canine companion, and a 5’ fenced yard for them to romp around in. Louise's PYRfect home would be with a medium to highly active family, possibly with children and other pets, where she can be part of all the adventures while still getting plenty of cuddle time with her humans! - Written by H.B. National Great Pyrenees Rescue (NGPR) has been rescuing and adopting out Great Pyrenees since 2006. Our relationship doesn’t end with adoption, as we continue to support adopters throughout the lifetime of their dog. Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority. April 7, 2025, 11:42 am
