My story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Oklahoma dogs are not available to adopters who live in an apartment. Harrison is a sweetheart of a boy. He is an adult Great Pyrenees that we saved from being euthanized at an Oklahoma shelter. Harrison was very thin, afraid, and overwhelmed in the shelter; and it turned out he was heartworm positive. Thanks to several good folks that donated to help with the cost, Harrison has undergone, and has completed, heartworm treatment, and has a clean bill of health from the vet!  Harrison is now ready to find his forever home, and hoping you are looking for him too! When Harrison first came to his foster home, he was unsure about coming indoors even when invited, as if he'd been punished before for coming inside. He also didn't know how to walk on a leash. He watched the other dogs and after a little time, figured out he was safe and loved, and now he enjoys being an indoor dog, hanging out with his people and getting cuddles and treats. He is great walking on a lead and also rides well in the car. He would do best in an adult home, or with older kids, as he doesn't know his size when he gets to running around and could accidentally hurt a small kiddo. He does well with small and big dogs and is cat safe as well. Harrison is house trained and crate trained, and would like an indoor/outdoor home where he can spend good weather days lounging outside and overseeing his property. Harrison is fully vaccinated, neutered, dewormed, heart worm negative and up-to-date on monthly prevention meds. Apply now to adopt this sweetheart! Out of state adopters are welcome, but please be prepared to travel to Oklahoma City to complete the adoption, as we don't have transport available.  NGPR Pooch Profile Name: Harrison in OK Age: 3 yrs 1 mo old as of May 2025  Color: White  Dew Claws: Yes Estimated Adult Weight: 85+ lbs Origin: OK Current Location: NGPR approved foster in Oklahoma City, OK Medical: Neutered, dewormed, negative for heartworm, up-to-date on vaccinations and currently on flea, tick and heartworm preventative. If you call or e-mail you are reducing your chances of adopting this animal as we direct our time and energy to first serving those who apply. NYS Registered Non-Profit Rescue # RR102. National Great Pyrenees Rescue (NGPR) has been rescuing and adopting out Great Pyrenees since 2006. Our relationship doesn’t end with adoption, as we continue to support adopters throughout the lifetime of their dog. Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority. May 1, 2025, 2:00 pm
