My story

Name: Nicholas Barkley Breed: Chihuahua Mix Sex: Neutered Male Age: 4 years Weight: 12.5 lbs Needs Experienced Adopter - Cute, Confused Pup who Wants to Believe in Love Good with dogs? Nicholas loves the small, friendly dog in his foster home.He may do very well with another small, confident dog in his forever home. Good with cats? Yes, he loves the cats in his foster home. Good with kids? No, so far he has missed the memo that both adults and kids are cool and would be suspicious that kids are oversized squirrels in disguise. Energy level: Medium, he likes to play, especially with stuffed animals, but will settle down and relax. Behavioral Needs: Nicholas Barkley came from a hoarding situation, is nervous about new situations and sounds, and is working on training. He’s at the “I’m not running away but I’m definitely not running toward you” stage of friendship. Having a confident dog sibling to show him that humans are good may help greatly. He needs a special human who is: Patient Quiet (ish) Willing to let him set the pace, which may be slower than dial-up internet Emotionally prepared for the day he finally asks for pets and your heart explodes Animal Characteristics: Nicholas is an adorable pup who is gaining positive experience and confidence every day. If you’ve ever earned the trust of a shy dog, you know how special it is. If you haven’t - Nicholas is ready to be your weird little challenge! He needs decompression time and loves fun playtime and treats. He is ready to meet a loving adopter who can help him build trust and continue his training and socialization. Slow-blooming love is still love and when Nicholas decides you’re safe, it’ll feel like winning the emotional dog lotto! Apply today and start the adventure of convincing one nervous potato the world isn’t so scary after all. Please learn more about the adoption process and fill out an application at www.pawsco.org/adopt/adoption-process. You can also contact my friends at PawsCo at adopt@pawscoadoptions.org if you have questions. I look forward to meeting you!

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Nicholas Barkley, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
