Reed

My story

Remember our quirky little Trio of two dogs and a cat, found traveling together, and never claimed? They spent some time in a wonderful home, and we learned enough about them that we are all in agreement it wasn`t the right location for them. They are back with us, and we are a little more specific about what they need. A neighborhood, with lots of people walking dogs past the home, is just too over-stimulating for River, and despite management of the environment, and important leash work, she just wasn`t able to relax the way we`d like to see. The dream location for River would be a home with a fenced-in yard, preferably a privacy fence, so she could get plenty of exercise without needing to be walked regularly where she`s seeing other dogs. We also feel she`d do best with someone who is familiar with Shepherd behavior, and will understand her responses to her living arrangement. We are still hopeful the Trio can find the right home together, but we will always do what`s best for them, and because they have different needs, that could mean having River go to one home, and Rain and Reed go to another home together. We are still getting to know Reed, but so far he has been timid. Reed tolerated his feline roommates, but spent most of his time hiding. We gave him his own colony room, but he still did not warm up. UNTIL…we brought his dog friends Rain and River to see him, and he totally changed!! Head butts, purrs, and snuggles are now the norm, and we are keeping Rain in the colony room with him full-time, and River visits regularly from the dog wing. We would love to adopt these three together into a loving home. We don`t know if Reed has had any experience with children, but at this time we feel he would do best in a calm and quiet environment with no young children.
