My story

Winston came to CVHS when his elderly mom needed to move in with family, and he isn`t a good match for the other animals in that home. He lost his human dad a few years ago, and being a typical Shepherd, he`d really like to find his new special person to give all his love to.He`s a middle-aged Shepherd, diagnosed with osteoarthritis in his hind end, so he has a few needs for what will give him the best life. Going on long walks make him sore, but he really loves being outside, so he`d love a fenced-in yard to poke around in, with an occasional stroll on a flat, private trail. He is on supplements that help support his mobility, fish oil, and a daily nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory to help with the osteoarthritis. Getting into cars, onto couches, and up stairs may eventually become a problem for him, so that`s something to keep in mind when considering if your home is perfect for him. He`s not thrilled with car rides even now, so he`ll be very happy if you let him stay home.Winston does not like small dogs or cats, and is looking to be the only animal in the home, so he gets all the attention from his devoted human. He enjoys meeting new people, and has done well with people of all ages, but young children are probably not the best fit, especially with his painful hind quarters. If you are familiar with large breed dogs, financially able to continue his ongoing care as he ages, and looking for a faithful friend who is a home-body, Professor Winston could be the perfect match for you!A 5-week Good Manners training course is included in Winston`s $350.00 adoption fee. Please call the Adoption Center at 802-476-3811, or email info@centralvermonthumane.org, to schedule a time to talk to an adoption counselor about him, and to determine if you should meet Winston.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Professor Winston, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
