My story

Meet Pongo! Pongo's journey is a story of resilience, love, and hope. Found abandoned in the desert alongside another dog, Pongo’s rescue took 30 relentless hours of dedication from the heroes at Hope for Paws. When we first met him, Pongo was utterly shut down—he wouldn’t walk, explore, or even lift his head. Instead, he curled into a ball at the back of his kennel, as if trying to disappear. But we never gave up on him. Once in foster care, we devoted countless hours to earning his trust. Gentle pets, soft words, and even sound bath healing sessions helped soothe his anxiety and open his heart. Then came the moment we’d been waiting for—Pongo wagged his tail for the first time. His transformation continued when he met our mascot, Boulette. The two became instant best friends, and for the first time, Pongo began to play, run, and embrace the joy of simply being a dog. Today, Pongo is a confident, happy, and playful young pup, ready to start the next chapter of his life with his forever family. He loves other dogs, enjoys zooming around the yard, and is learning to walk on a leash—he’s even starting to enjoy leisurely strolls!
