My story

"Courtesy Post" This is not a Street Paws animal but we are assisting a family with placing their pet.  Lucky has had a very rough life so far. He needs a long term foster or furever home. We will cover all costs and supplies for a foster. He went to our vet for a thorough lookover, wound treatment and neuter. We thought for sure he was a senior however he is only 4-6 years old.   Here are the notes from the call with the vet. His liver and kidney values are good. He is a strong heartworm positive, he has an elevated white blood count (WBC), non-regenerative anemia, yeast infection on his skin and in his ears, his left ear is almost entire closed and is consider chronic, he is deaf in his left ear due to the untreated ear issues, he has limited hearing in his right ear. He will need ongoing treatment for his ears. His right testicle was atrophied. This could a tumor, diseased or maybe even cancer. We chose to neuter him to give him the best prognoisis and send it off for biopsy. He has bacteria in his urine, his fecal was negative. He has cranial nerve deficits possibly from the chronic ear issues. He has issues with his trigiminal and facial nerves, he eats funny due to this affecting the muscles, but his teeth look good. His pupils are mildly dialated and do not respond to light, blinking issues and likely optical nerve issues. He does have limited sight and smell. He is on prednisone in hopes to reduce inflamation and we hope that will also help his face, the nerve issues give hime the very excited look.  This boy is so sweet with everyone he has met. We do not feel he should be with cats. He has been with dogs and did fairly ok but due to the sight issues we think being an only pet may be best. He does love to play with his toys and his Pet Supermarket teddy bear is his favorite for now.  Adoptions are limited to an approximately 150 mile radius from Locust Grove, GA, certain circumstances may allow exceptions.  Adoption fee is $250 To apply to adopt this pet, please fill out a Preliminary Adoption Application at  https://www.streetpaws.org/home/adopt.     This application does not commit you to an adoption. It is used to screen those interested to make sure the home is a good match for the pet and your family. We verify vet history on current/previous pets to ensure pets have been spayed/neutered and vaccinated annually. Please call your vet to give permission for us to call them. If more information is needed regarding the pet email info@streetpaws.org. You must complete the pre-application to obtain approval to meet the pet.  March 31, 2025, 7:15 pm

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Lucky, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
