My story

Meet Vida the Diva! Her zest for life and big, joyful personality are contagious. Vida was found abandoned on the side of the road, locked in a crate with two other dogs. But from the moment she arrived at her foster family's home, Vida knew she belonged. She immediately claimed their hearts ~ and the comfiest spots in their house! But her journey was just beginning. We knew Vida needed extensive medical care. She wound up getting a dental and two mastectomies. The first one was benign. The second one found soft tissue found sarcoma, but had good margins. While there is always a chance of recurrence, Vida is currently doing well and enjoying having the cancer out! Through it all, Vida has remained the loving, spunky girl we fell in love with ~ greeting everyone with excitement, stealing the softest spots and most delicious food in the house, and slowly regaining her playful spirit. Now, with her stitches removed and her confidence returning, Vida is back to running in the yard, barking at everyone like a true diva, and rocking her fabulous wardrobe. Whoever is lucky enough to welcome this little star into their home will be getting a dog full of love, resilience, and a whole lot of diva energy! She's a great snuggler and loves to go on adventures with her humans. At home, she loves to be on furniture near her people - couch, bed, dining room chair, she just wants in on the action. She is endlessly entertaining - every day she does something especially funny or cute. She is so silly and expressive and makes the funniest faces. Vida loves treats and veggies and wouldn't mind having a canine companion to pal around with - as long as she's still the star of the show, of course! She can be a little intimidated by really big dogs so a furry friend her size would be ideal. Vida is also a toy fanatic and disembowels stuffies like it's her job. Her favorite is a rainbow narwhal about her size - she loves having her foster mom throw it for her to fetch. Because she was previously abandoned, she understandably doesn't like to be at home without her humans and would do best in a family that's home most of the time. She loves riding in the car with her head out the window, is great on the leash, and enjoys spending time outdoors in her foster family's fenced-in yard. Vida is looking for humans to snuggle with who will take her on lots of walks and outings and provide her with structure and routine. She seems to have energy for anything and everything as long as she can take lots of naps afterwards to recharge. Vida's joy for life and energy are truly contagious. Her foster family thought her 14 year-old foster brother was starting to slow down, but he gets the zoomies all the time now that she's here and they rile each other up in the best way. Vida has so much joy and love to give - she just needs a family to give it to. Could it be yours? Vida is approx 13 years old and 12 lbs. Fostered in Silver Spring, MD Please apply to adopt at MirisHaven.org
