My story

Open wide and say hello to Cheesecake! This gorgeous hunk of loveliness is sweeter than pie, and there's lots of him to go around! Cheesecake weighs a measly 21 pounds!!! He's had a checkup with our vet and is in good health, despite the weight. Good bloodwork, but our vet recommended he start on a kidney diet. We could offer you some to get started, you may also be able to speak to your vet about him eating non kidney diet as long as it's low in protein (many common pate brands). He is also on meds daily to keep his bowel movements regular, but he is pretty good at taking them. Cheesecake is almost 10 years old (as of March 2025) so he would apply for our senior rate.Cheesecake is super nice. He LOVES pets. He gives face licks/kisses and is just generally an all around sweet cat. He had some mats in his fur when he came in and he didn't bat an eye when staff shaved them off. Cheesecake was originally in a room with other cats and he didn't really like it and wasn't eating well or using his litter box appropriately - so we were lucky enough to have a foster home where he could go for some one on one attention and both of those issues resolved. After reviewing his eating habits and digestive issues with our vet we believe Cheesecake needs to be in a low key household with no other pets, he needs the one on one attention to stay happy and healthy with no distractions or other animals. His previous home was with a quiet, senior retiree so it makes sense that a busy household or a busy room at the shelter would not be to his liking. Cheesecake is up to date on vaccines, microchipped, tests negative for FIV/FELV, and is already neutered. All he needs is a big helping of your kind heart.
