My story

Hi, I’m Barbosa, a cool seven-year-old guy full of personality. I’ve had quite the recent adventure… are you ready for me to share it? I was found and being cared for by some nice people, but when they found out I was FeLV+, they brought me to a veterinarian to have me euthanized. I was all, wait, what? I’m not ready for that! Thankfully, the veterinarian determined that I was stable and declined their request. Instead, she had them surrender me to her hospital, and she then reached out to Homeward Bound to help find me just the right family. Now, here I am! I’m not showing any symptoms and I am healthy, but because it is easily spread and can weaken immune systems, I should be an indoor cat, and will need to either be your only cat, or live with other FeLV+ cats—though it’s entirely what your comfort level allows. I get that it can be daunting, but with the right stress-free environment, a healthy diet and preventative or regular vet visits, I can still have a wonderful, long, happy life. And before you get bummed that you can have only one cat with me in your life, just know that I am plenty of cat to fulfill all of your needs! I’ll cuddle, play, chill, or whatever you like.
