My story

Oh, I don’t even know why I’m writing this. Honestly, I should just post the pictures and let the applications flood in because, let’s be real—how do you say no to this puppy? Trick question. You don’t. You just accept your fate, fill out the app, and prepare for a lifetime of being outsmarted by a tiny ball of fluff. Reading the info is optional, but falling in love? Yeah, that part’s non-negotiable. While this puppy may look like he was hand-crafted by a team of master plush toy artisans, I assure you—he’s real. And he’s on the hunt for his forever family. Meet Pope. Pope is a whopping 3.5-pound, six-week-old male Schnauzer mix. Yes, you read that right—three pounds. If you were hoping for a future giant, majestic, bear-sized dog… kindly keep scrolling. This boy will top out at “designer handbag” size, and if you blink too fast, you might lose him between the couch cushions. On the plus side, he’s so tiny, you could probably sneak him past your partner undetected. Just let him weave between the big dogs like a fluffy little ninja, and it’ll be a good 48 hours before anyone realizes there’s an extra set of paws in the house. He might even pass as a cat—though I would never dare say that to Pope’s face (he has pride, you know). Pope is your standard puppy model: playful, friendly, and full of charm, but not the type to body-slam you with enthusiasm. He’s good with dogs, great with kids (the dog-savvy kind), and would probably love the resident feline—though whether the feline loves him back is a gamble. He’s a firm believer in “love thy neighbor,” especially if thy neighbor has a lap to sit in. In fact, to Pope, all new people are just laps he hasn’t claimed yet. So, if you’re in need of a pint-sized shadow with a strong dedication to snuggles, Pope is ready to be your tiny, adorable sidekick. His energy level is chef’s kiss perfection. You get the laziness of a sloth after a Thanksgiving dinner combined with the energy of a slightly over-caffeinated otter, and somehow, it balances into the ideal mix of calm and playful. Pope is down for an adventure with his family, but he’s also 100% content living the homebody life. Right now, he’s keeping his options open—kind of like that friend who says they’re “down for whatever”. Now, don’t get it twisted—he is a puppy, so that doesn’t mean you get to sit on your bum all day while he quietly ponders life. He has needs, people! He’ll either require kids to entertain him, dog siblings to wrestle with, or at the very least, some daily walks and brain games to keep his puppy genius engaged. Pope is also a top-tier snuggler. He loves giving his toys a dramatic shake before tumbling over like he just won a wrestling match. And let’s be real—is there anything cuter than a puppy proudly demolishing a stuffed toy, play-fighting with his siblings, giving sweet kisses to his humans, and then passing out in someone’s lap? No. The answer is no. Alright, future Pope parents, let’s have a little heart-to-heart. Yes, he’s adorable. Yes, he’s tiny. Yes, he will make your heart explode into a million fluffy, love-filled pieces. But let’s not forget—he’s still a puppy, which means your life is about to get interesting. First up: Socialization. Pope needs to meet all the things—people, dogs, vacuum cleaners, and that one suspicious mailbox down the street. If you don’t put in the effort now, you’ll end up with a dog who thinks your neighbor’s lawn gnome is an existential threat. Pope is small, but that does not mean he gets a free pass on training. Just because he won’t be able to knock you over doesn’t mean he should be allowed to live life like an unhinged toddler on a sugar high. Pope does not magically come pre-programmed to only do his business outside. That’s on you. There will be accidents. There will be moments of frustration. There will be a time when you step in something warm and deeply regret your life choices. But with patience, consistency, and a solid potty routine, Pope will figure it out. Right now, Pope’s idea of walking on a leash is not walking on a leash. He’ll probably do the classic puppy flop, chew on it like it personally offended him, or attempt to walk you instead. But with time, he’ll learn that leashes mean fun adventures and not just weird human control devices. Listen, Pope is tiny, but his teeth are mighty. He will chew things. Your shoes? Fair game. Your furniture? A potential snack. That expensive item you just bought? Oh, it’s definitely going in his mouth. The good news is, he’s not doing it out of spite—he’s just a puppy exploring the world one chomp at a time. So, if you value it, put it up. If you leave it out, consider it donated to the Puppy Destruction Fund. Alright, now that you’ve been properly warned about the puppy chaos Pope will bring into your life, let’s talk adoption. If you’ve made it this far and still think, Yes, I would like to invite this tiny tornado of cuteness into my home, then congratulations—you might just be the lucky human Pope is waiting for! But before you start picking out tiny sweaters and debating whether he should have his own Instagram account, there’s one little thing you need to do first: fill out an adoption application at https://www.pyrpawsandfluffytailsrescue.com/adoption-app. Once you do that, we’ll send it over to his foster family so they can make sure you’re worthy—I mean, a good fit. A few final notes: Pope is currently living his best foster life in Broken Arrow, OK, and you will need to physically pick him up there (yes, in person—no, we will not ship him via Amazon Prime). Also, he won’t be ready to go home until around March 16th, so you have a little time to puppy-proof your house.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Pope, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
