Kid friendly: UnknownDog friendly: Yes!Cat friendly: UnknownEnergy level: HighLeash skills: Pulls on the leashKeeps a clean kennel: Working on it!It's our pleasure to introduce Fiona, newly adoptable, and to share her dramatic before & after shots along with her story.Fiona actually joined us all the way back in January. We received an urgent intake request concerning an emaciated dog. The freezing snowy weather combined with her thin coat and underweight frame bumped her to the top of our priority list, and we opted to take her the same day. Once she arrived, we also discovered her to have itchy, infected skin and a broken or malformed tail. After some weeks spent eating 3x a day, taking antibiotics to treat her skin, and an exam at the vet, it was decided that when she was well enough, she’d undergo surgery to remove the part of her tail that was nonfunctional and clearly painful to her. So 2.5 weeks ago, Fiona had her spay and her tail amputation at the same time! She had her stitches taken out this week, and she’s able to wiggle-butt her way into our hearts and laps even better now! From the get-go, Fiona had a wonderfully hopeful and jubilant spirit. As skinny as she was, she was more than happy to soak up the attention, enjoy the toys she newly had access to, and accept treats with such vigor that it was nearly hazardous for the treat-givers! Her energy level never flagged, and she’s clearly a hardy and strong girl to live through whatever she experienced that put her in such a state. As you can see in her after pictures, her skin has cleared up beautifully, and her frame has filled out and muscled up. She’s now ready to be a pampered princess in a home of her own. Active and agile, Fiona would welcome an engaged household that enjoys keeping up with her level of activity. We are guessing that she is a Boxer/Pit mix - she’s smaller and slimmer than your typical Boxer, but her smushed and short nose is indicative of some Boxer roots. Her play style as well is physical, lacking in self-preservation, and tumultuous as she bounces, prances, and runs in an impressive display of her athletic prowess.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Fiona, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
