My story

Meet Hermey – A Survivor with a Heart of Gold Hermey has every reason not to trust humans, yet he chooses love and kindness. This gentle soul came into our care after Fluvanna SPCA discovered he had survived an old ballistic injury—he had been shot in the neck and left to suffer. On top of that, he was severely malnourished, fighting for survival on his own. Despite everything he’s been through, Hermey has held onto his sweet and forgiving nature. Today, Hermey is stable and lives a normal life with just a few adjustments. Due to his past injury, he cannot wear collars around his neck and instead uses a harness for walks. But don’t let his history fool you—Hermey is just as ready for adventure and companionship as any other pup. He’s a bit nervous in new situations and may take a moment to warm up to new people, but once he does, he’s the most affectionate snuggle bug you’ll ever meet. Hermey enjoys the company of other dogs, but he’d do best with another gentle companion. He hasn’t been officially cat-tested, but his foster does have chickens, so there’s potential for a home with cats. More than anything, Hermey deserves a family who will show him the love and security he never had before. He’s been through so much—now it’s time for his happily ever after.
