My story

Kooper is a sweet, affectionate, and intelligent 3-year-old almost 40lbs Shepherd mix looking for his perfect fur-ever home! This handsome boy is potty trained, and crate trained - he even puts himself to bed in his crate! He's a quick learner who is highly food-motivated, making training a breeze! He already knows sit, down, and stay and has made great strides in his leash manners. Still eager for sniffs but going on a purposeful walk has been much smoother. He's always ready to greet you with kisses and is happiest cuddled up next to you on the couch.Kooper is great with baths and having his paws handled, making grooming easy. He enjoys treats (though he's still working on taking them more gently), He's also learning to be less of a beggar at mealtime - but he might still give you those big brown puppy eyes!Kooper thrives with regular exercise and routine, which helps keep him relaxed and happy. He would do best in a home with older kids and no cats. Would possibly be a good fit for a military family, or early birds. He very much enjoys structure. Kooper prefers a calm, respectful canine companion. He has shown some resource guarding tendencies with food and treats around other dogs, but with proper management (like separate feeding areas), he can coexist peacefully. He currently plays well with his foster brother. Kooper also gets a wee bit excited over food, while it keeps him motivated for training, he's been known to get curious about what's on the counter, and the trash. Speaking of excitement, he is currently using a slow feeder bowl as encouragement to take time and enjoy his meals. Kooper is a loving, eager-to-please boy who would make an amazing companion for the right family. He's got a lot of love to give, and with continued structure and training, he'll be an incredible best friend. If you're looking for a snuggly, goofy, and loyal pup, Kooper might just be your guy! Kooper comes neutered, microchipped and fully vaccinated.Adoption fee: $285Follow Kooper's story on our Facebook page. All of our animals are vaccinated, micro-chipped and spayed/neutered before being adopted.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Kooper, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
