Ask to meet me!!!Sherman is a 4-year-old German Shepherd with a heart as big as his 75-pound frame (which could use just a touch of healthy weight gain). With his sweet nature, smart mind, and slightly awkward charm, Sherman is the full package for anyone looking for a devoted and sensitive companion. On a recent foster break, Sherman proved himself to be an excellent houseguest—completely housebroken, polite, and a total cuddle bug. He loves snoozing close to his people, whether that’s on the couch or curled up in bed. He’s also a fan of toys, especially stuffies, which he carries around with pride. Out and about, Sherman is a great walking buddy—calm, responsive, and tuned in to his handler. He’s also clever (he figured out how to open a sliding glass door in just one day!) and has that classic Shepherd combination of intelligence and devotion. At the shelter, Sherman participates in daily playgroups, where he’s a gentle and dainty player. He does best with dogs who share his calm energy and easygoing vibe. While he gets along well with mellow canine friends, he’s still working through some “stranger danger” tendencies with people. Because of his sensitivity to new situations and cautious approach to introductions, Sherman is looking for a home with kids aged 12 and older.Sherman has been diagnosed with hypothyroidism, a manageable lifelong condition that requires daily oral medication and occasional bloodwork. Since beginning treatment, his skin has already shown notable improvement. His future family will need to maintain his care in close partnership with their vet, but with proper management, hypothyroid dogs can live long, happy lives.Sherman is ready to be someone’s loyal shadow—an affectionate, gentle, and quirky guy who just wants to be close to his people. If you`re seeking a calm companion who enjoys quiet walks, soft toys, and snuggles on the sofa, reach out to foster@cuyahogacounty.gov.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Sherman, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
