APOLLO

My story

In our busy lives, we can often be found rushing from one appointment, meeting, or obligation to the next, moving quickly and rarely stopping to “smell the roses.” If you’re looking for a pup to help you slow down, take in the scenery, and move through life at a more leisurely pace, Apollo is the guy for you! He loves taking nice, relaxed strolls with his friends and is looking for a furever family to putter around with. Prior to coming to the shelter Apollo lived in one home his whole life. He was reported to do well with another large dog in the home and was good with young kids and even cats! He was house and crate trained and was described as an affectionate couch potato who loves to play. During a short foster stay Apollo was well- behaved when left home alone, enjoyed sleeping next to his foster person, and was again housebroken. He loved a rope toy that his foster bought for him and was described as a very cuddly boy. Volunteers at the shelter absolutely adore this sweet gentlepup, sharing:“Apollo was a good boy on our first walk together! I leashed him easily, and he calmly exited the shelter. He walked at a good pace, responded well to his name, and did not pull, even when his excited kennelmate passed us. A drone kept buzzing over us in the park, but Apollo was unbothered. He stayed focused and didn`t react to anything. He`s very treat motivated and would look at me expectantly when I`d tell him that he was a good boy. A pleasure to spend time with!”“Apollo is a friendly guy, greeting me curiously at his kennel door. I tossed a treat in and easily entered the kennel. He was super polite and sat nicely while I leashed him up. He walked easily over to a play yard. Once in the yard, he was friendly and affectionate, soliciting snuggles and pets. He is an easygoing, relaxed and sweet boy! He`s a lovely loose-leash walker and was easy to return to his kennel.”Apollo has been playful and easygoing when meeting other dogs in playgroup. He’d like to meet any resident dogs before heading home to ensure a good fit. If you’re looking for a gentle soul to join you on your evening strolls, Apollo is ready to go home with you today!
