Obi

My story

A25400 Obi is approximately 4 year-old, 83-pound, neutered male, American Pit Bull Terrier mix. His adoption fee has been sponsored. Obi is a bundle of joy and excitement, and he’s looking for a loving home to share his endless energy with! He came to the shelter as a stray, and since then, our medical team has taken great care of him—he’s been neutered and had a dental cleaning, so he’s all set to go! Obi is always wagging his tail and excited to see anyone who approaches his cage. He’s super easy to leash and doesn’t mind having it put over his head. This guy is strong and a real puller, always eager to explore and excited to get out of his kennel. If you love a dog who’s ready for an adventure, Obi is your guy! He’s a super nice dog, though his energy can be a bit overwhelming at times, and he’ll need some guidance with his manners. He gets really excited and will listen when enticed by a treat or toy, but he’s not the type to follow commands without motivation. Obi will sit and stay when you have a treat or toy, but outside of that, his excitement can make it tricky to get him to focus. Obi is very playful and loves to sniff around—he’s the type of dog who wants to pull you everywhere to check out all the cracks and corners! Some dogs he’s curious about and wants to sniff through the cage, while others he just walks right by, not bothered at all. He’s definitely got a lot of personality and would thrive with an active family who can keep up with his playful nature. He’s a gentle giant at heart, but Obi needs to continue learning his manners and listening when it's not food-related. He loves being handled, though he can be a little touchy about his mouth, so that’s something to be mindful of.
