Meet Cisco, also affectionately known as Crisco, Potato, Tubby, or Gremlin! This laid-back, 13-year-old male Apple Head Chihuahua mix, weighing 5-6 pounds, is eager to find his forever home. Cisco is a little bundle of personality, and he absolutely loves people, especially when they bring food! Food is definitely his love language, and he's not shy about letting you know when it's cookie time or if you've forgotten his treats. He was quite the expert beggar when he arrived, having lived primarily on people food. However, we've worked diligently on his diet and boundaries, and he's made great progress in understanding whose food is whose. Cisco is a dog who knows what he wants and will express it with his charming, quirky bark. He is house-trained and enjoys nothing more than sleeping and watching TV with his humans. Cisco gets along well with the small dogs in his foster home, but as an older gentleman, he's past his playing days with other dogs. Cisco has been diagnosed with canine Cushing's disease, an endocrine disorder where the adrenal glands produce excessive cortisol. His symptoms include increased thirst, urination, and appetite, a pot-bellied appearance, hair loss, and thin skin. He is currently taking trilostane medication in capsule form to manage his symptoms and is the medicine is working well for him. Cisco is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. His adoption fee is $300, which helps offset our rescue's medical expenses. If you live in the Phoenix metro area and believe Cisco would be a wonderful addition to your family, please complete an adoption application at: helpadogsmile.org/adoption-application/. *Please note that the application is not a commitment to adopt–it is a tool used to help determine if a dog and applicant would make a good match. Applications are forwarded to the foster family for review and follow-up. August 9, 2025, 6:01 pm
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Cisco, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
