My story

Corazon is a 4-year-old large mixed breed who was found as a stray and brought into our care. While we don't know much about his past, we do know that he's ready to find a loving home where he can thrive. This handsome boy is eager to bond with his new family and will do best with an adopter who can provide him with structure, training, and plenty of love.My Ideal HomeCorazon would do best in a calm, low-traffic home with an experienced adopter who understands large breeds and is committed to positive reinforcement training. He enjoys human companionship but will need guidance to learn polite leash manners and proper introductions to other dogs.Good with Kids?Corazon is best suited to a home without young children under 5. He may do well with older, dog-savvy kids who can interact with him appropriately.Good with Other Dogs?Corazon came into the shelter with another dog, but we are still learning about his dog-to-dog interactions. He may do best as the only dog in the home or with careful introductions to a well-matched canine friend.Leash MannersCorazon is an enthusiastic walker! He can pull on the leash, especially when he sees other dogs, so he will benefit from a front-clip harness and reward-based training to help with his leash manners.Overall HealthOur veterinary team has examined Corazon and he is in good health. He is neutered and ready to go home!Behavior DeterminationCorazon has been assessed as a Level 2 dog, meaning he will thrive with an adopter who can provide structure, training, and ongoing socialization. He shows signs of on-leash reactivity, which can be managed with positive reinforcement techniques. If you're looking for a loyal, playful companion and are ready to guide Corazon toward his best self, come meet him today! My #BoroughBreak Buddy Writes: If you asked Corazon, he would think he was a five pound lap puppy. Despite being in the shelter for a while, Corazon is one of the most loving and excited dogs I've ever met. He has no idea how strong he is which can lead to some pulling on the leash, however, he is incredibly motivated to learn and be a good boy. We had a great time exploring the park, but he was happiest when we were laying in the sun and saying hello to people. Every person who approached him, he greeted with a big, goofy smile and a happy tail wag. He loves to put his head in people's laps and is more than happy to be loved on for hours. He is working on his training but he did great with sit, lay down, and leave it. He was easily redirected to keep his focus on me during our walk. At heart he is a gentle giant who just wants to give love!He was a great companion for a long walk, and beyond friendly to every single person we met. He made himself at home quite quickly & played by himself very well with some good chew toys. Ultimately he's a big lap dog who just wants to love & sleep near you... THE ABSOLUTE SWEETEST! Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: Black Weight: 74.5 Age: 4yrs 3mths 3wks

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Corazon, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
