Sweet Pea is as sweet as her name suggests! After spending her entire life in an outdoor pen, she’s ready to enjoy her golden years in a warm, loving home. This mellow, older gal will blossom in a quiet household where she can rest and roam to her heart’s content. She adores calm people who will spoil her with pets, treats, and lots of soft places to nap. Don’t let her age fool you, though -- spunky Sweet Pea still has plenty of pep in her step! When she’s not curled up in a cozy bed, she enjoys sniffing around the house, trotting around the fenced yard, and going on leisurely walks. She is quite inquisitive and enjoys exploring her surroundings. Although she has not spent time with children, Sweet Pea would likely do well with older kids who are mature and respect her boundaries. She also gets along with other gentle dogs. However, Sweet Pea may remind younger pups that age comes with privileges—especially around yummy treats! During the day, Sweet Pea goes potty outside every 2-3 hours, as well as 30 minutes after every meal. She is well-mannered, rarely barks, and sleeps through the night in her crate from 8 pm to 7 am. Sweet Pea feels very safe and comfortable in her crate, and a small light nearby helps her find it when it is too dark for her eyes. Life’s a garden, and Sweet Pea is ready to put down some roots! Could this cheery, easygoing gal be the perfect companion for you? HISTORY Sweet Pea’s prior owner was no longer able to care for her. HEALTH Sweet Pea is up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, and heartworm negative. Despite her age, her vet says her heart and lungs are in excellent shape, and her recent blood work all came back within the normal range. Sweet Pea will soon have a dental procedure to remove some broken teeth. She has arthritis, cataracts, and is hard of hearing but gets around fairly well and responds to visual cues when she can't hear. She takes a common daily medication for arthritis. PHYSICAL Sweet Pea has a smooth honey-brown coat with dark brown shading on her face and floppy ears. Her muzzle and cheeks appear to be speckled with powdery snow.
