Name:    Salento           Best Guess for Breed:    Shepherd/Retriever mix   Best Guess for Age:    8 months as of April 2025         SEX:       male Estimated Weight:  50lbs as of April 6 - he still has a bit more to grow. Gets Along With:    Other dogs! We haven't seen him with kids or cats but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters.  Currently Living at:    DC area boarding partner - needs a foster! Salento is a pretty cool pup who has all that awesome young-dog energy and loves his walks, romps with pup pals, and going on adventures. Just such a friendly, happy, and loving dog, eager to learn.What he wants most of all is to grow up as a well-loved family pet, to explore the world by the side of his humans, and to always be under his own roof, safe and loved. What do you say? Is Salento the one for your home and your heart? What People Say About Me: Salento has been in boarding in DC, and has been such a popular pup for Dog's Day Out Adventures! Volunteers have taken him on outings throughout DC and on car rides further out as well. He's walked to various local dog parks, the U. S. Capitol grounds, and just all around his boarding spot - and he got to go on a trip to Quiet Waters in Annapolis as well. All those volunteers loved him! Here's what they had to say: He was an amazing pup on our walk! Everyone who's met him says he's super sweet, chill, and well behaved. He is very treat motivated and responds wonderfully to positive reinforcement! He got along with everyone in the dog parks and had a great time running around.  He loves to sniff and explore on his walks. On our trip to Quiet Waters, he got into the car easily and fell asleep right away—I’ve never seen a dog do that! All in all, Salento is a popular pup with volunteers and they all have loved taking him out for the day!
