My story

My foster writes:She is quite fastidous, not destructive, no hissy fits, shy, regal, slender, isn't stinky, doesn't shed, is clever, playful, agile, vocal, matches any decor, affectionate but not clingy, not mean or grumpy, isn't a great purrer but does purr, likes to look out window and seems to be healthy. Will come to you, if you make kissy noises. Doesn't like being picked up, but will allow you to pick her up. She has a youthful spirit and energy and seems pretty content. She made a quick adjustment, hid for 2 days but then came right over and sat on the couch with me on the third day. She startles at loud noises, but not any more than other cats. I would keep her but don't want to foster fail with my first foster cat!I can go home today!What do you get when you cross a cat with a couch? A cat-potato! And that's me to a T!I am a sweet, shy, older gal, looking for the perfect forever home!I would appreciate slow introductions to new people and places to help me feel safe.I'm sensitive and shy. I'll need extra help from you.I am looking for a home with a patient person.Indiana tolerates attention and petting but appears to be moderately fearful or stressed in the shelter. She will likely need time to warm up to her new home. We recommend that she go to a home with some cat experience preferred or at least be well counseled in fearful cat behavior. Due to the behavior shown, she may not be a great fit for young children. Any home with older children prepared to adopt this cat should conduct a thorough interaction and endeavor to monitor this cat around their children to prevent these behaviors from being reinforced.A volunteer writes: No time. That's the reason Indiana's former owner relinquished this warm, gentle tabby to the Care Center. It's hard to imagine how someone couldn't pencil in a little cat pampering and playtime into their schedule--especially since her former owner vouched that Indiana was friendly, calm, comfortable with humans, and could entertain herself with her ball and rope toys when her people weren't available. (Though fetch, one of her favorite games, definitely requires a human partner.) Since she's been at the Care Center, Indiana has shown herself to be social and a lover of head and cheek pets. But we want this copper-eyed beauty to be back in a real forever home, one with pet parents who will give her some warm-up time before she can settle in and be her sweet, loving, playful self.
