My story

Please note that inquiries on this site are not monitored. To apply for a specific dog with Bulldog Haven NW rescue or submit a general application, please visit https://bulldoghavennw.org/apply/ Moon: A Sweet but Special Girl Looking for the Right Home Moon is a 2.5-year-old dog with a heart full of love, but she needs a little extra patience and care to thrive. She's had a rough start in life, being surrendered after a series of difficult circumstances, but with the right environment and a dedicated owner, she's truly a joy to have around. If you're looking for a loyal, playful, and affectionate companion, Moon could be your perfect match. With a heart full of love and a spirit full of energy, she's on the hunt for a family to call her own. Moon is the ultimate playmate-fetch is her game, and toys are her best friends. She's crate trained and potty trained, so you can count on her to be a well-behaved member of your household. When it's time to relax, she's just as content snuggling up with you on the couch, showing her sweet, loving side. Her Story: Moon was originally surrendered because she couldn't get along with cats. She was also in very poor health, suffering from ear infections and bad skin, and had been previously rescued in California. Despite these challenges, Moon has made huge strides in her health and behavior, though she still has some quirks that will require a special adopter. Behavioral Notes: · Interaction with Other Dogs: Moon has had some challenges with other dogs in her past homes, particularly when a dog challenges her. She needs to be the only pet in the home, as she doesn't get along well with other animals, especially in close quarters. · Excitability: Moon has puppy-like energy and can sometimes get a bit too excited, especially when her energy is high. She may nip at feet when she's overly thrilled. With training and redirection, she's been improving, and while she's made progress, she still occasionally tests boundaries. · Leash Manners: Moon is still learning, but a calm, consistent handler can help her improve her manners. · Reacting to New Experiences: Moon can be a little overwhelmed by new environments. She was initially reactive when visiting a pet store with her foster, but with time, she's learning to manage her excitement and anxiety in new places. Perfect Home: · No Other Pets: Moon thrives best as the only pet in the home. She'll be happiest in a peaceful, quiet environment where she can be the center of attention. · A Calm and Loving Home: Moon is a huge cuddle bug and loves being close to her people. She needs an owner who enjoys quiet time at home and is looking for a companion to hang out with and relax. · A Secure, Fenced Yard: Moon loves to play and chase balls in the yard, so a fenced-in yard is ideal for her to burn off some of that extra energy. · Older Kids: If there are kids in the home, she would do best with older children who can help maintain her training, especially in moments when she gets excited and needs help calming down. · No Robot Vacuums or Overhead Fans: Moon is reactive to certain things like robot vacuums and overhead fans, so these should be avoided or managed carefully. Health Needs: · Moon does have allergies, and she receives Cytopoint injections every few months to manage them. Her previous vet visit confirmed that her allergies are not food-related and don't require additional medications. What Moon Needs Most: Moon needs a patient, understanding owner who is committed to continuing her training and who can provide her with the love and structure she craves. She may need some time to adjust, but with consistency, she'll reward her family with her sweet, loyal nature and cuddles galore. If you're looking for a fun companion who will be your shadow and bring joy to your quiet home, Moon could be the perfect fit!
