Rubi

My story

Rubi is a smart and determined pup enrolled in our Shelter Scholars program, where she's working on building confidence and developing positive behaviors around on-leash reactivity. Through structured enrichment, confidence-building exercises, and stress-reducing activities, Rubi is learning how to stay focused, remain calm, and respond to distractions in a more positive way. Using positive reinforcement training, she's making great strides in practicing loose-leash walking, redirecting her attention, and feeling more secure on walks. What my friends at ACC say about me:My history is a mystery and my friends here do not know much about me yet!It is unknown if I have ever lived with other animals or children.I am looking for a home with a patient person.I will flourish in a calm environment and a low-traffic home.My BB wrote: Rubi was so much fun on our hike in Forest Park!Her leash manners improved over the course of the walk once she realized we were there to enjoy nature. She barked at passing dogs a few times but mostly only when they barked at her first and once we realized she could be easily redirected with treats by the end she was completely ignorant and vibing. She jumped in the car without any coaxing and was very good on the way there and back, curiously peeking out the window and looking for snuggles. She is easily excitable and quite strong but with proper training, positive reinforcement, and patience she will make a wonderful addition to your family. While most of our outing was focused on a hike, we could tell she would be just as happy (if not happier) sunbathing and lounging about. She's also adorable -- we think maybe there's some bulldog mixed in there somewhere. Give her a chance, she will absolutely win you over!
