My story

7/04/25. Happy 4th from HERMEY!!! Today HERMEY, our dobie shepherd mix who was left to fend for himself for over a year in Hialeah before finding his way to the rescue, finally got his turn for a pup cup run, and he couldn't have been more happy and grateful! HERMEY is an extremely smart boy; he loves to play fetch and will do anything for a belly rub, but he needs some training and would do best with an experienced large breed handler. He is a good boy who, if given the chance, will flourish with the right adopter. Sometimes the most overlooked dogs make the best companions. PLEASE SHARE HERMEY; he's been waiting 7 months for his person. 4/13/25. Calling ALL our shepherd/Dobie lovers…. HERMEY is still looking for his furever home. This regal 5-year-old boy was found wandering in Hialeah for 1 year fending for himself before coming to the rescue. He is working hard with the volunteers to learn his manners; he loves going for walks and getting attention from the volunteers. He especially enjoys belly rubs from Marcel. He is very smart and eager to please. He is best suited for a large breed-savvy owner who will continue to work with him and allow him to be the best version of himself. He will give you a 100% and make a very loyal and loving companion if given the chance. May be okay with a calm, submissive female dog or best as only dog. PLEASE let's give HERMEY that chance. He's been waiting a long time, and it's his turn. Come meet HERMEY! 2/16/25. 5-year-old HERMEY is still waiting patiently for his forever home. This 5-year-old dobie shepherd mix was found fending for himself for almost 1 year in Hialeah before coming to the rescue. He is a sweet, smart boy who will do anything for some attention and a belly rub, but as he is a strong boy and will need some training, he is best suited for an experienced large breed handler. He seemed to like other dogs when first coming to the rescue, but now it seems he may be better as the only dog. He may possibly work with proper introduction to a calm female. If you are looking for a smart, loving, regal dog, HERMEY has got you covered. With gentle guidance and training, HERMEY will make a very loyal companion. 12/27/24. Meet HERMEY! This incredibly sweet 5 yr old Dobie/shepherd mix was fending for himself for over a year in Hialeah. For the last 3 months, some very kind ladies have been taking care of him and trying to catch him so they could finally get him safe with us. In the last few weeks we have had him, he's shown himself to be a very loving and gentle boy. He is super strong on a leash and will need some training, but the Dobie/shepherd mixes have proven themselves to be amazingly smart and eager to please. He is good with all people, likes other dogs, and likes the water. Cats and small children are unknown, so we will not put him in that situation. He is still waiting on his neuter, but will make a great addition to the right family. Let's SHARE and help HERMEY find his furever family in 2025!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Not every dog is available for adoption or need a foster - some are wards of the rescue (usually due to medical reasons, but sometimes behavioral). These dogs will always be supported by DRL. We welcome financial support for these dogs. Here are links to foster and adoption applications for those dogs who need a foster home or adoptive home.
