My story

Meet Stu, Stewie when he's being silly and Stuart when he's feeling fancy. Stu is a 2-year-old beagle bully mix who is sweet and very smart and needs an active family that will him exercise physically and also provide mental stimulation for him to be a happy boy. He is amazing with people, great at the vet and great in the house, but he does require exercise and training to relax. He should be in a home with older children only, he doesn't know his size and tends to get very excited and jump on people and may accidentally knock over younger children. He is a ball of muscle and in his teen years where he’s extra excitable. We prefer that he be in a home without any other animals. He is very easily trained and loves to cuddle and be near you. Stu has recently graduated from his board and train program! He has had a lot of work and effort put into him and he’s gotten much better while walking on leash and greeting new people. His trainer agrees that he would do best in an active family who would love to have him join in on their adventures. He has the stamina and strength to be someone’s best hiking/wakeboarding/jogging buddy! Anyone who meets him falls in love with his silly personality, googly eyes and giant smile! Due to his intelligent and strong breeds, he requires a family that can in a positive way only, show him that he’s not the alpha and he’s safe with a pet parent that’s in control. He is very playful and loves to play fetch, he drops the ball and it’s a great way to get his beans out in the house. He needs a family that is willing to invest more time in the beginning in his training for the long-term benefits. Stu deserves his own wonderful family with the time, love and patience to help him become the best dog he can be. He’s crate trained but can also be left loose in the home and be a well behaved boy. Stu is fully vaccinated, sterilised, microchipped and covered for flea, tick, mite and intestinal/heartworm prevention and will come with his medical booklet. Sometimes a dog takes a little more time to open up, you may see them showing more and more of their personality over the course of the first few days, weeks or even months! We don’t know all that they’ve been through before they were rescued, but they are so forgiving and full of love and it’s worth every tough moment in the end. Developing a trusting relationship with your rescue dog is the most important thing. Stability, patience, positive reinforcement and love are the most important things!

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Stu, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
