My story

Hi, it’s nice to meet you. I’m Charlie, a 60 lb., 3 year old, GSD x. I don’t remember much of my previous life other than I had a litter of puppies early on. The nice people at the shelter found me and then slowly nursed me back to a healthy weight since I was just skin and bones. However, my past doesn’t define me. This is what my foster mom has to say about me: Charlie is a super sweet girl who prefers spending time with her people! Charlie is very gentle with our almost 2-year-old daughter and would be great for a family with kids or another dog because she enjoys playing. She is a snuggler and gives kisses, knows how to sit, is treat-motivated, takes treats gently, and is housetrained. Charlie has spent time at doggy day care and does really well there. She loves hanging out and playing with her doggy friends. Charlie loves to go on walks and loves hiking. She does chase after squirrels and cats and sometimes barks at other dogs (especially if they start barking first).   Charlie had isolation/separation anxiety when we first got her, but has made wonderful progress and we are now able to leave her at home alone for a couple hours. We expect that once adopted, she will need her people to give her time to adjust to her new home. The change may cause some angst and she may regress, but we have no doubt that once she feels comfortable in her new home, she will regain her confidence and her anxiety will be minimal.  Charlie would do best with someone who is home the majority of the time and has the flexibility and patience to work with her to make her feel safe and comfortable when leaving the house. She can sometimes be skeptical of male visitors to the home, especially those with beards and hats, but generally avoids them and tolerates their presence.  Charlie will make a fabulous furry family member. As long as her forever family gives her unconditional love and support, she will bloom into an even more perfect version of herself!  ##2033441##

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Charlie, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
