Dieter von Dassel is a gorgeous, 2-year-old German Shepherd. This young, handsome fellow with a magnificent coat wants you to understand he needs a little time to adjust to new places and new people. However, when it comes to dogs, he’s all in immediately! Initially coming out of his kennel for a walk Dieter is a bit unsure but, after he meets the other dogs on the walk, he’s happy and his tail is wagging. Off-leash entering play group he is comfortable and that tail is wagging in anticipation of more fun. He bounces around and invites all the other dogs to play with him. When he’s around other dogs, his whole demeanor changes. He becomes a silly boy who also is sweet and lovable to people. Now he can take a break from his playful canine skirmishes and ask to be admired and petted by humans. He seems to be housebroken. Dieter wants you to know that he would love to have a forever home with at least one other dog -- but no cats. Rescued from the SEACCA animal shelter. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN Dieter von Dassel YOU MUST FILL OUT AN ADOPTION APPLICATION ON OUR WEBSITE: www.sheprescue.org Application link: http://www.sheprescue.org/Application_to_Adopt_a_Dog%20Main.html Based on our experience, Westside's current thinking is to usually match first-time shepherd owners with a mix versus a purebred shepherd. Mixes are "softer" and somewhat more malleable. Exceptions can be made, however, for first-time adopters who show the confidence and leadership tendencies that purebreds will respect and respond to. Counselors have to use good judgment in assessing the attributes of the adopter, as well as of the dog. If you have doubts, get a second opinion from Robin or another experienced counselor.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Dieter von Dassel, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
