My story

** $10 in pledges for the rescue that pulls ** Harrison ACCT-A-207791 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to length of stay and lack of space for incoming dogs. Harrison must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER, or ADOPTER by Saturday, JULY 5TH at 10AM. Should Harrison's medical or behavioral status change, his urgency and timeline for placement may also change. Due to being significantly overcapacity with dogs and cats and higher than usual intake, extensions are unlikely to be granted. If you are interested in an animal please contact ACCT Philly immediately. Due to limited space, timestamps may also be proceeded with early so it is imperative to let us know if you are considering adopting or tagging a dog or cat. Harrison first came to ACCT in 2024, brought in by the police, and was reclaimed by his owner. Unfortunately, this month Harrison was found tied to a pole, and this time, his owner did not come for him. Videos: Meet Harrison: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IigWZpxvfSQ&t=1s Check out these videos of Harrison in playgroup! Playgroup 6/17: Leela, Loba, Hailey, Hayden, Bonzo, Ernest, Harrison, Freddie: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JqaV1VX_PLo&list=PLcnvoGYrJkIZoHWxpI4SU8GLg4NOCgojL&index=17 Playgroup 6/17: Leela, Loba, Hailey, Hayden, Ernest, Harrison, Freddie: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9LICvIYvkr8&list=PLcnvoGYrJkIZoHWxpI4SU8GLg4NOCgojL&index=18 Behavioral Notes: Behavior memo 6/18 Avoidant, scared, tail down or tucked when I interact with him. Staying in behavior office, will eat treats and approach people to sniff. Outside he is more comfortable approaching people and allowing light handling on his back. Tail down mot wagging, ears to the side, sniffing and softer eyes. Playgroup notes 6/17 Very fearful, conflicted, flighty, exit searching, handler oriented, hard barking through gate at first, finicky w/ people and dogs, aloof. Playgroup notes 6/17: Harrison was very fearful at the gate, exit searching and trying to flee from the smaller run. he was alert barking at the dogs through the gate. once in the yard he was timid but tense around the handlers and dogs. he was hypervigilant of exits and had a tucked / low tail. he was greeted by dogs a couple times, tolerant of the interactions but remained avoidant, walking away when he could. he was very handler orientated, sticking near SUP. josh and looking for comfort. Behavior memo 6/16 [Harrison] was tied up outside the building the night before, he started barking, and residents put a baby gate around him and fed him, which helped him settle down. They said he was timid but friendly, just nervous. Behavior memo 6/16 When trying to place in the crate, he had whale eye, was air snapping at the leash at times and was putting his paws on the leash attempting to subvert being placed in the crate. Need two handlers to get him in the crate, needed to loop his hind legs to pick him up and place him in. He was able to get out of the crate because it wasn’t latched properly and this same placement back in the crate needed to be repeated. Behavior memo 6/16 Another staff member and I were walking through the back door, each walking a small dog. As they stepped through the door, I saw him standing along the kennels, said there was a loose dog, and they backed out and closed the door. I walkied that there was a loose dog. He jumped up on the door. I wasn’t able to see what was going on but waited until he was on leash to open the door. He didn’t really react to the little dogs, he was just standing there. A few hours later I saw him messing with the door to his crate and the lower latch was opened. Behavior notes 6/16 When trying to place in the crate, he had whale eye, was air snapping at the leash at times and was putting his paws on the leash attempting to subvert being placed in the crate. Need two handlers to get him in the crate, needed to loop his hind legs to pick him up and place him in. He was able to get out of the crate because it wasn’t latched properly and this same placement back in the crate needed to be repeated. Harrison is looking for a patient someone who understands his shyness, and can meet him halfway and provide him with the decompression and space that he needs to feel comfortable. - ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in Philadelphia. We are open for adoptions 7 days a week. Please visit www.acctphilly.org/adopt for details. If you are a rescue interested in pulling this animal, please email our lifesaving team, or visit here if you are not currently a rescue partner: https://acctphilly.org/acct-philly-love-local-partnership-program/ Confirmed placement is considered confirmation of an actual rescue pull. Possible placement, interested parties, and other "TBD" statuses are not considered confirmed and do not indicate an animal is no longer urgent. All animals at ACCT Philly are from Philadelphia, as the only open intake animal shelter in Philadelphia, we are not able to accept animals from outside of Philadelphia. ACCT Philly’s Pennsylvania kennel license number is 08313.
