Meet Max – Your New Best Friend! Please read the bio in full for answers to your questions. In the event you have a question that is not covered in the bio, please email info@seniordoghaven.org. If interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application which can be found at www.seniordoghaven.org under the Adoption Process tab. Please note that because all of our dogs live in foster homes, we are unable to set up meetings with a dog unless we have a completed adoption application on file. Adoptions must be about an hour of Wilmington, DE in order for our volunteers to be able to conduct an in person home visit. Max is a sweet and loving 10-year-old Yorkie mix, weighing in at just 12 pounds. He may be small, but his heart is huge, and he’s ready to share it with a family that will cherish him! Max has had a tough start to life, coming to us from a shelter where he was shut down and barely able to walk. But this resilient little guy has made an incredible turnaround with the help of his monthly Librella injections. He now loves to explore and be active—on his terms, of course! Max is nearly housebroken and uses belly bands as a backup. If he’s taken outside every 3-4 hours, he does wonderfully with no accidents. He has limited vision and weak back legs, so a home with minimal stairs would be ideal. Despite his health challenges, including early kidney and liver disease and a heart murmur, Max doesn’t let anything slow him down! While he currently doesn’t need medication (other than his prescription kidney wet food), he will need ongoing vet care to monitor these conditions. This gentle soul is fantastic with other dogs, cats, and kids (elementary age and up, due to his limited vision). He adores snuggling, lap naps, and being close to his humans. In fact, Max’s perfect home would be with someone who works from home or has plenty of time to spend with him—he thrives on companionship and isn’t a fan of being alone. Max is a quiet little guy who rarely barks and loves to be outside, cuddle on the couch, and enjoy treats. He’s great on a leash and doesn’t mind being picked up or handled. He’s not crate-trained but sleeps wherever he feels comfortable, whether that’s a cozy bed or right next to you. Max is ready to find a forever family who will shower him with love and keep him safe and happy. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will melt into your arms and steal your heart, Max might just be the one for you! Are you the family Max has been waiting for?
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Max, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
