My story

Meet Mia!Mia was found as a stray and brought to our care after being spotted near the highway. With no known history, Mia has been figuring things out on her own-and winning hearts in the process. This 4-year-old brindle beauty spent time in foster care with one of our most experienced volunteers and has shown us that while she may be anxious in new settings, she is full of love and potential.🐾 My ideal homeMia will thrive in a calm, quiet adult-only household that can give her time to adjust and build confidence. She's sensitive to her surroundings and appreciates patient people who allow her to come out of her shell at her own pace. A home with access to a yard or quiet walking routes would be ideal for this sweet girl.👶 Good with kids?Mia would do best in a home without children. Her anxious energy and tendency to jump up can be overwhelming in a busy environment, and she benefits most from calm, consistent routines.🐕 Good with other dogs?Yes! Mia has done beautifully in playgroups. She loves to play, greet gently, and engage in zoomies with her dog friends. She's tolerant of more rambunctious dogs and is happy to bow out and rest when she's had enough. With a thoughtful introduction, she could be a great companion for a resident dog with a friendly, balanced personality.🐾 Leash MannersMia can pull hard on leash, especially in new or stressful environments, but she's highly food-motivated and learns quickly with positive reinforcement. In quieter spaces or one-on-one settings, she becomes more relaxed and connected to her handler.🩺 Overall healthMia is around 4.5 years old, spayed, and weighs about 55 lbs. She's healthy, up to date on vaccines, and has mild dental tartar typical for her age. She's received routine care during her time at the shelter.🧠 Behavior determination: Level 3Mia is a Level 3 dog due to anxiety and a lack of impulse control. She can jump up or become overstimulated when excited, but she's also incredibly affectionate, trainable, and eager to bond. Her anxious behaviors tend to improve in quieter, one-on-one settings-especially with some tasty treats and a cozy spot to relax.🎉 One fun factMia is a world-class cuddler. When she trusts you, she'll climb into your lap like a giant puppy and lean in like you're her whole world. If you're looking for a loyal, loving companion who just needs a little patience to shine, Mia could be your perfect match. 💕 Primary Color: Brindle Secondary Color: White Weight: 55 Age: 4yrs 7mths 2wks

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Mia, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
