My story

Meet Merlin!  Merlin is a sweet, loving, and resilient 1-year-old pup who was rescued from a high-kill shelter. Upon his arrival in New York, it became clear that Merlin had a fractured femur head and a dislocated hip, which were not disclosed by the shelter. Despite the injury, he is the best boy with a heart of gold and loves to snuggle and play. Merlin underwent surgery to address his injuries in the care of BARRK. While he’s not bothered by it during normal walks, he struggles when trying to excercise too much. He enjoys walks, especially at night when it’s quieter, and loves playing fetch with a tennis ball and tug of war. After about 30 minutes running around at the dog park, he’ll usually limp back, ready for a rest. Though Merlin hasn’t had much exposure to cats, he’s not aggressive and should adjust well after a few days. He has plenty of energy and loves attention, but a short burst of exercise—around 30 minutes—wears him out for the day. Merlin may not be a jogging partner, but he’s definitely a companion who will keep you entertained with his playful spirit and devotion.
