Meet Chrystal Catholic! Chrystal went through a lot in the weeks before becoming a Frosted Face. Her mom had moved to San Diego to be closer to family because she was experiencing health challenges. Recently, she was discovered wandering and lost by local authorities. This is when the family realized that it was no longer safe for Chrystal's mom to live alone, so she was moved to a care facility. A neighbor took responsibility for finding Chrystal and her three siblings homes, while the dogs were left behind in the empty house. The neighbor was a senior herself, with little to offer other than her time and good heart desiring to make sure all of the dogs were safe. Unfortunately, Chrystal got away while the neighbor was trying to load all four dogs into her car. Amazingly, after 3 days of searching, the neighbor was let back onto the empty property to find Chrystal cowering in the garage. She must have found her way home! When Chrystal was brought to us on November 7th, she was understandably very overwhelmed and scared. So much stress and loss for a little girl who spent her life as a beloved companion! Thankfully, only a few days after Chrystal arrived, she was chosen to live in a Foster home to decompress. She is blossoming with extra TLC in the comfort of a quiet home and the companionship of the other dogs there. Her now-Foster Mom shared this positive update: "Chrystal is still a bit reserved with people but enjoys company of the other dogs. She follows the cues from the pack when to run or bark or go out to the yard. Chrystal goes to the door when she needs to go to the bathroom. She likes to sleep in our bed some nights and other times in her own bed. Chrystal walks couple of times per day and her endurance is improving. We are able to do ½ to ¾ miles walks in a hilly neighborhood. She walks well on the leash however getting a harness on is still a bit of a challenge. Chrystal follows me around the house with the dog pack but she does not like to be picked up. We are slowly working on her comfort with getting a harness on, petting and grooming. She is definitely much better than when she came to us, but I am hoping to make more improvement on her comfort with personal space and human closeness. Chrystal will come close to sniff my legs and great me at the door but when I reach out to pet her she is still hesitant. In similar fashion she will sleep on the bed with me or my daughter but does not seek to snuggle. Chrissy does not pay attention to our cats. She thrives as a member of a dog pack. I think Chrystal will thrive in a home with other dogs. She came from home of 4 dogs, and she clearly trusts the pack more than people." Do you have a spot in your heart for a little girl who has lost so much? To give sweet Chrystal the loving forever home she deserves, please email: placement@frostedfacesfoundation.org.
