** $375 in pledges for the rescue that pulls ** Princess Leia ACCT-A-178173 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to length of stay and lack of space for incoming dogs. Princess Leia must have confirmed placement with an ADOPTER or RESCUE PARTNER by Wednesday, November 13th at 10 A.M. Should Princess Leia's medical or behavioral status change, her urgency and timeline for placement may also change. Due to being significantly overcapacity with animals and higher than usual intake, extensions are unlikely to be granted. If you are interested in an animal please contact ACCT Philly immediately. Due to limited space, timestamps may also be proceeded with early so it is imperative to let us know if you are considering adopting or tagging an animal. Meet Princess Leia. The force is strong with this one! She knows "sit and "paw, and is gentle when taking treats. While she can get excited, she calms herself with toys and in play, making her a fun and interactive pup. Our high-energy girlfriend here is looking for an adult-only home where. If you've been looking for a loving and loyal pup to share your life with, Princess Leia is ready to be your best friend! Princess Leia can be selective of her doggy friends and would need a slow introduction to any possible dog siblings in her future home! Videos: Princess Leia explores: https://youtube.com/shorts/kBNxJ7mmQFY Princess Leia sees another dog: https://youtube.com/shorts/G6tNyq-qtto Sparticus meets Princess Leia: https://youtube.com/shorts/zgLPK0aKcao?feature=share Per Volunteer 11/10/24: I had Princess Leia out today and wanted to send some videos of this sweet girl Coexisting with other doggos. I had her out for photoshoot today and she's an energetic lady who is noted to be dog selective. When I had her out today, she was excited to see other dogs and occasionally vocal but she could be redirected and also look at them calmly ( with wagging tail). On 11/7 Princess Leia's URI was Persistent and was switched to Azithromycin. On 10/21 Princess Leia came down with an upper respiratory infection and was started on Doxycycline. Per volunteer 10/19: Leia is a lowkey girl who is content to just exist outside and take in the smells. She has notes saying she can be reactive in kennel but today, Leia was sleeping so deeply she didn't get up for her walk until I opened the door! Leia spent her time outside sitting next to me and getting face scratches which she really enjoyed. She does not like other dogs but walks by them fine. Per staff 10/18: Did a meet with adopter - Princess Leia did pretty well! Didn't try to fence fight initially, although she did start to hard bark at a dog after we met the adopter. Was occasionally social, but preferred to move to look out the window of the meet and greet room. Per Volunteer 10/17/24: She was barking and jumping up on her kennel every time I walked by, however, it was looked to be out of excitement. She pulls quite a bit on leash, but with a harness it would be no issue. Not very treat motivated that I noticed. She has the world's floppiest ears. She is very responsive to sounds like a whistle to get her attention. In the play yard she was very chill and just explored the smells, laid back girl when she's 1:1 outside! She checked me out by sniffing but not overly interested in me. Showed some interest in toys and she did chase some birds briefly. Came back and found the treats that I had dropped in the play yard after getting more comfortable. She took some pets but not overly affectionate. No issues returning. 10/15/24 staff noted: I took her out earlier today. She did great leashing and walking through the kennels. I brought her into the foster office and she has a blast. She has a lot of energy and would benefit from a big place to run around in! She did see 2 other dogs and was growling, Barking, And lunging. She was easy to put back in kennel! Per Staff 10/14/24: Princess was on the backside alert barking and ran to the front with dilated eyes and mid level wags. She allowed easy leashing and then darted out of the kennel, growling and barking on leash and tried fence fighting with dogs in their kennels. When she couldn't get to dogs she darted back to the handler so she was walked on a short armed leash just in case of any issues. Reactive when returning to kennel but hopped back in easily. Pulls strongly, reactive on leash to other dogs and through barriers. When doing actual dog meets she remained reactive to female dogs but did well with a slow intro with male dogs! In the room Princess was initially very vigilant and focused on other dogs outside the room. She was drying back and forth at the door and whining and was very fixated on getting out to the other dogs (she did the same thing in the play yard later on when outside). After several minutes in the room she began to calm down and engage more with us. She allowed all over handling without any issues and leaned in when petting her. She would get overstimulated at times but calmed down with toys and treats. She was gentle when taking treats and knows sit and paw. She remained loose and wiggly when two other handlers entered the room. On 10/12 during the initial intake exam Princess Leia was noted to have bloodshot eyes from stress. Teeth had mild staining. Was noted to be bright, alert, responsive but very dog reactive, jumping and barking at another dog that was waiting to come in the room when leaving.
