** $75 in pledges for the rescue that pulls ** Ice Queen ACCT-A-177032 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to length of stay and lack of space for incoming dogs. Ice Queen must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER or ADOPTER by FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 15TH at 10AM. Should Ice Queen's medical or behavioral status change, her urgency and timeline for placement may also change. While her name might suggest otherwise, Ice Queen is anything but icy! This sweet and gentle lady is a little shy at first, but she quickly warms up to kind humans and tasty treats. Ice Queen was found as a stray on September 28th and was briefly adopted, but unfortunately, she was returned due to pet restrictions at the residence. Now, she's looking for her forever family! Ice Queen has had good meets with other dogs at the shelter, so if you have a dog at home, bring them along for a meet-and-greet! She seems to prefer women over men and would do best in a home without children under 15. Due to her length of stay, Ice Queen is urgently seeking placement with a rescue partner or adopter. BEHAVIOR: Per volunteer 11/10: Sweet, knows sit. Per volunteer 11/9: Ice Queen is such a sweet dog! I never have a problem getting her in and out of her kennel as she is always so good. Ice Queen does pull a little so what I like to do is after I loop her and get her out of her kennel I hook my leash to her harness and then take off the leash around her neck to just walk her with the leash attached to the harness. She knows we do this and is very patient about it. In the run Ice Queen is so good. She's only a year old so having lots of energy is not shocking. She loves to play with toys but you do have to watch her as she does tear them up. I worked with Ice Queen on sitting and waiting and she did pretty well for the time we did it in. She is VERY treat motivated and will try to learn just about anything with a treat. Ice Queen did see a dog from a little away they did not meet but did walk across from each other and she was really good. There was a time where she got a little too excited so I took a treat out and asked her to sit and she did so good. Since she is a little jumpy since she's young I do believe she could accidentally knock down a little one not meaning too so 12 and up may be better. She is truly such a sweetheart and so affectionate she just needs somewhere to run and get all that built up energy out. Per volunteer 11/9: Ice Queen is super playful and friendly. She was so excited to get outside and be around toys. She loved engaging her handlers with play too. Pretty Ice Queen is actually very warm and friendly! Per volunteer 11/8: Absolute sweetheart. Got to run around today and was so good. Per volunteer 11/8: Very playful, likes to destroy toys. Tons of fun, knows sit. Per volunteer 11/7: Such a sweet girl! Per volunteer 11/5: Ice Queen is an absolute sweetheart with puppy energy. Per volunteer 11/3: Sweet, pulls a little bit. Per volunteer 11/2: V.G.G. (Very good girl) Per volunteer 11/2: Took Ice Queen out to see how she's doing since coming back. She is the same Very Good Girl. Ice loves fetch and has endless energy. She's had training and knows not to jump, but sometimes she gets so excited she just barrels right into you, lol. Ice knows lots of commands and is super treat motivated. She LOVES to run but will eventually even out her pace on a long walk. We went to the track and she enjoyed watching for squirrels and investigating new smells. Per staff 11/1: Playful, sweet. Per volunteer 10/31: She is an affectionate girl that likes to get petted- she can be a little mouthy when she gets excited. She is easy on the leash and appears to get along well with other dogs. 10/26 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION: KNOWN HISTORY: Owner surrender KENNEL PRESENTATION: Ice Queen was laying on her bed and looked up with neutral eyes and got up with low wags. The handler crouched down and she came up and allowed overhead leashing. LEASH SKILLS: Pulls moderately - use harness if possible HANDLING: In the eval room, Ice Queen greeted everyone with a wagging tail and sniffed around. She allowed all handling and wiggled her body into the handlers. She does cute play bows and does the cutest zoomies. She does a little when riled up but understands when to stop when she is redirected. She takes treats nicely and sits very pretty. She is a canon ball of energy. She likes to wrap herself around your legs and zoom around so beware of her leash. She is a playful pup and loves all kinds of toys and play. PLAY: Engages in play TOYS: Loves all toys Per staff 10/26: Loved fetch, super friendly. Per staff 10/25: Ice Queen was adopted and returned after 1 week as they were not allowed to have pets at their residence. The adopter stated issues with Ice Queen being home alone. Breaking objects, breaking cage door, and breaking out and chewing her clothes/shoes. Per staff 10/16: Took her out for a meet and she was super sweet. Wanted to play but also jumped up on the interested adopter to say hi and wanted pets and cuddles. Showed a lot of interest in the potential adopter. Also wanted to chew on sticks and eat plants. Was happy to run around. Seems housetrained as she peed and pooped outside. Per day trip 10/8: Ice Queen is a sweet girl with striking, icy blue eyes. She's very well behaved and gentle on the leash (apart from the occasional squirrel sighting) and didn't have any trouble with the people, dogs, or bikers that we passed while on a long walk. She's also very calm in the car. Though she's not the most outgoing, Ice Queen gladly accepted my pets. When we returned to ACCT, she did get slightly reactive when a man approached her -- just a little bit of growling. Contrary to her name, Ice Queen made my heart melt! Per staff 10/7: Was noted to be growling at men in the intake lobby when returning to shelter Per staff 10/5: Does not appear to like men. Did a meet with a couple and she appeared scared and growled a bit towards the husband. she did well with the wife. Per day trip 10/4: Ice was perfect. Few notes: She was good in the car Loves to chase squirrels and cats Listens to sit, occasionally. But can hold a sit if you stay persistent. Very trainable as she eventually picked up on "leave it She let me pick her up with no issues. She didn't bark at all. I'm assuming her name is new as she didn't respond to it much. She checked in with me during our walk and got closer to me when we passed people. Per volunteer 10/1/24: She was sleeping in her kennel when I approached. She slowly got up and allowed me to leash very easily. Was very loose and calm. We walked outside and she was great on leash! Likes treats and took them super gently. She seems to know sit very well and had nice gentle manners. She was a very low energy gal with not much interest in toys that I saw. She is Super easy to handle overall! Took some pets from me but not overly affectionate on the first meeting. No issues going in or out. 9/30 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION: KNOWN HISTORY: Stray KENNEL PRESENTATION: Ice Queen was sitting upright at the front of the kennel with wide eyes and a neutral body. She allowed for me to easily leash her and was very patient, just sitting at the front. No issues exiting or returning. LEASH SKILLS: Pulls minimally, housebroken HANDLING: Ice Queen was timid in the room with me. She walked around exploring and then came over standing beside me and sniffing at my leg. She had wide neutral eyes, a low tail, and neutral body. She allowed me to pet her head and back without issue, but was sensitive about her ears and would whip her head away from me and shake if I touched them at all (they seem sensitive!). She allowed all other handling though without issue, but remained fairly neutral. After play she began to solicit more and loosen up! She took treats gently when offered and showed knowledge of sit. Remained calm when another staff member entered the room and gave wags when speaking to her PLAY: Engaged in play TOYS: Perked up a lot with toys! Allowed me to take them directly from her and had great manners. A pro at fetch. MEDICAL: On 10/30, Ice Queen was still displaying signs of an upper respiratory infection. She was diagnosed with a persistent URI and prescribed a different medication. She has completed that treatment. When returned on 10/25, she appeared healthy and her ear was no longer infected. She was bright, alert, and responsive, very friendly, and loved treats. On 10/7, Ice Queen was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection (URI) or "doggy cold" and prescribed 2 weeks of medication. She tested positive for pneumovirus and mycoplasma, but has since tested negative for pneumovirus. On 9/30, she was diagnosed with an ear infection and prescribed a long-lasting ear medication. During her intake exam on 9/28, Ice Queen appeared to be in overall good health, with her eyes being just a little red and her ears a bit waxy with some scabs and irritation. During her exam, she was bright, alert, and responsive, scared, shy, and wouldn't allow staff to touch her ears.
