Adoptable: Caden – One Year in Rescue! This October marks one full year of Caden being with us, and what an incredible year it has been watching him blossom! ✨ What we’ve learned about Caden: • He’s still a shy boy at heart, but he has grown so much—now bravely seeking out people on his own. (He even gets a little sad if you walk past without saying hi!) • He absolutely thrives with other dogs, but he’s learning how to be social without relying on them too. • He’s currently in a foster home with children and another dog, and he does amazing—gentle and loving with all ages. • He’s even great with cats! • The sweetest soul: he may not be a big cuddler, but he’s happiest laying quietly beside you, soaking up your company. • He’s not the biggest fan of car rides yet, but he’s working on it and gaining confidence with every outing. Caden is the kind of dog that leaves pawprints on your heart. We absolutely love him, and we know whoever adopts him will feel like the luckiest person in the world. Apply to adopt: www.keytolionsheart.org ---------- One of the nicest dogs you will ever meet. October 8, 2023. That’s the date Caden was picked up as a stray in poor condition with bite wounds and scars all over. He was scared and shut down, keeping to himself in his kennel. The kennel that became his home for exactly one year when he was Euthanasia listed. October 8, 2024 - His one year anniversary celebrated at the shelter; celebrated with a time stamp on his life. Caden is safe. After a year and 3 days of living 23.5-24 hours in a kennel, he is finally free. It’s no surprise he is confused. After that long of constant barking and screams and confinement, he is not sure how to take this silence. But he is happy. He had the best sleep of his life and is just soaking it all in. What we know so far is he is sweet, gentle and has zero reactions to dogs. In fact, he seems to perk up when he is around one and is very appropriate with all the dogs he has met. Caden spends a lot of time sleeping in his crate. Even when left open, he chooses to lay and observe. He comes out for a quick hello and then right back in. He is in training since we did not know what to expect and so far, he has amazed us at what a super nice and resilient dog he is. The shelter did not break him one bit. He also has had zero accidents in the home or in his crate!!! Caden would love a home that will continue to show him what it means to be loved. We ask that he be in a home with older children only because we do not want him to get scared of sudden loud commotion while he still is learning that no one is going to hurt him. He has a very nice disposition with zero aggression to anyone or anything. He truly is an amazing dog. He is aged somewhere between 3-5 years old. September 6, 2025, 11:41 am
