My story

There is not shortage of survival stories in rescue, but Reese is an absolute miracle. We don’t know how his story started, but Reese was found during the high heat of summer in Texas. Struggling would be an understatement. His skin was raw and irritated, his breathing was labored, he could barely see, and he could hardly move. After ending up with an amazing rescue, Reese was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection, a horrible case of mange, malnourishment, dehydration and entropion issues (his eyelids scraped against his eyeballs). But worst of all, he had a 22 caliber bullet lodged near his spine. But the rescue saw immediately how incredible this boy was and put nine months of love and patience into his rehab. His skin was treated, he received surgery on his eyelid and the bullet was removed. He received physical therapy and over time regained almost nearly full motion. Reese relished being cared for and is a complete love bug. Understandably, he’s shy with strangers at first, but warms up quickly and loves pets and scratches. Once Reese had recovered enough from all the trauma, he was diagnosed with FeLV so was transferred to Furever Home in Maryland. He continues to improve and is the sweetest little man ever. Now he’s ready for his very own family so he can live the rest of his life full of safety and love. Like all our cats, Reese is FeLV positive. Therefore he can only be placed as an only cat or with other cats that are FeLV positive.
