My story

Microchipped, DOB June 7, 2017 Pumpkin perfectly fits the definition of good things come to those who wait! She may be slow to open up, but when she does, she's truly a delight and there is no feeling more rewarding. When Pumpkin first arrived in foster care, she was extremely scared which caused her to protect herself by hissing and swatting when you got too close. But Pumpkin has come such a long way - she went from hissing and hiding in the carrier anytime someone was in the room, to eating in front of her foster mom and allowing pets too. This is huge for Pumpkin! She decides for herself when she wants affection, but when she does -- she REALLY gets into it, especially right before mealtimes. And the most glorious development? She has started curling up with her foster mom for cuddle sessions and she can also be picked up and is accepting head/cheek kisses! When it comes to Pumpkin’s favourite things in life, they are: 1) Chasing after her sponge ball 2) Rolling around on the carpet 3) Scratching her cardboard scratchers/scratching posts 4) Sitting on the windowsill and looking out the window, and 5) Rubbing her face on her slicker brush. She also has had no issues with using the litter box and is a great eater too. Pumpkin would do best in a quiet home with someone who has experience with cats and are open to letting her lead the way as she grows more comfortable with opening up. After living in the same home for 7 years, Pumpkin then went to a busy animal shelter, a vet clinic and then a new home. This change is stressful and knowing this, it's understandable that she was slow to warm up. But over the days and weeks, and months, so much progress has been made! With this little lady, it's important to celebrate the small wins because they feel so good! Pumpkin has made huge strides since coming into foster and is definitely a sweet girl. However, she needs a human who will give her the time to adjust to her new environment and show her softer side when she's ready to. She's just looking for someone who's willing to take a chance on her and you won't be disappointed if you do.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Pumpkin, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
