My story

Meet Smith! We rescued Smith from Moreno Valley Shelter in November 2022. Back then, he was a youngster by Frosted Faces standards, but his mom was a senior and in danger of being euthanized. We scooped up both of them! Smith and his mom quickly became volunteer favorites for their sweet, fun, and cuddly personalities. Smith's mom was adopted in 2023, but unfortunately, his journey to a forever home has taken some twists and turns. After going on several two-week Frosted of Flings, and living in two foster homes, Smith was finally adopted in summer 2024! Sadly, in October, Smith was returned for undesirable behavior, and we always take our dogs back. Unfortunately, after all of this change, Smith is a very different dog. He is insecure on leash, checking in every few steps. He is cautious and overly defensive with other dogs, where he used to be accustomed to living with other dogs or being in play groups. He is fearful of loud noises, which he always was, but now is even more sensitive. He also overreacts to quick unexpected movements from people. We've considered behavioral medications, but we aren't big fans of this approach. We are open to investing in training, but understand that is usually a team effort for a guardian and dog to learn, so we want to find an invested human. Meanwhile, volunteers give Smith lots of love and attention, take him on special outings, and play fetch with him, He LOVES fetch! Smith is back at FFF looking for a family. He needs a confident family who is willing to be patient with few to no expectations, and rule #1- you are ALWAYS on Smith's side. To find a wonderful family dedicated to working with Smith, he is available to foster through our Molly & Me Project. With this program, we pay a foster $200/month who has no other pets so he can benefit from a home environment. You can learn more about this program at: frostedfacesfoundation.org/mollymeproject To express interest in fostering or adopting Smith, please email placement@frostedfacesfoundation.org

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Smith, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
