Niven is living in a foster home. Fill out our quick adoption survey, and then we can set up a phone call or meet and greet with the foster! Niven is: Neutered: Yes! Up to date on vaccines: Yes! Microchipped: Yes! Our microchips will automatically register when an adoption is finalized - Currently taking medication for anxiety support - Being treated for an ear infection More about Niven: Housebroken: Yes! Crate trained: Yes, he has done well in his crate when home alone for up to 6 hours as well as overnight. Leash walking: He loves walks but he can be reactive and pull, so will need to keep working on this and would do best in a lower-traffic neighborhood. His adopter will be offered a free spot in our virtual leash reactivity training class! Dog social: He has lived with other dogs, but may do best as the only dog in the home so he does not have to share his human Cat social: Unknown, but he has shown prey drive toward small critters on walks Kid friendly: He would do best in an adults-only home, due to resource guarding behaviors and some body sensitivity Niven likes: - Napping with (or ideally, on) his person - Going for walks in quiet areas - Playing tug or fetch Niven is SO sweet and loves his humans so hard. His little body almost EXPLODES with joy every time you come back home to him, but he also does just fine in his crate when you are away. The spot he most wants to be is curled up on your lap with blankets. If that's not available, rest-assured he's down for lots of tug of war, fetch and chomping on any bone you'll give him. He experiences leash reactivity and would prefer a lower-traffic area where he can better focus on training to work on this. He has shown some resource guarding behaviors, and would likely prefer to be the only dog in an adult-only home. Niven has been very sensitive to sound and would do best in a single family home (rather than an apartment complex). Niven's adoption fee is $300, and he is ready to love on his forever person! Next steps: Email adopt@onetail.org with questions, or submit an application online and we'll be in touch to schedule a meeting: https://www.onetail.org/apply-to-adopt/ *** Our adoption application stays on file for one year and can apply to any dog in our program. Once the app is submitted you will receive an email within 48-72 hours. For additional questions, email adopt@onetail.org ***
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Niven, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
