My story

BIG NEWS! Cooper has found his forever home!! Check out handsome Cooper who just had a "Spa Day" professional grooming with our friend April at Polished Paws Salon! He looks fantastic! Cooper did great at Hollywood Feed in Avon, meeting new friends! Updated information from our foster. Cooper has struggled to find the right home. He definitely needs a dog savvy owner with leadership skills. Cooper has been in a foster-training program, so we could get to know Cooper best and what type of a home is needed. Cooper prefers women but does warm up to men. Cooper requires a fenced in yard. His foster has trained him to use a halti collar for his daily walks and he walks like a show dog!! Cooper needs daily exercise and a controlled walk to keep him in check. He is a very loyal dog. Cooper is excited to greet new guests and is working on his bouncy greeting. He is awesome at fetch and loves the freedom of a fenced in yard. Cooper has some funny tricks including sitting pretty. He is definitely partial to women, but that doesn’t mean he does not like men. He does not do well with soft toys and becomes possessive with them, so he should not be given the option. The foster has been working on this very hard and he has improved! If he has the right owner that will establish all the rules right from the beginning and continue with his training and daily exercise, he will do great. He was a huge counter surfer, since his head is counter high, but he has stopped this behavior in his foster home and knows it is not tolerated, however in a new environment it needs enforced. He really can learn anything you teach him but needs that one-on-one training. Cooper is not what we call a plug and play dog; he will need continued work! He’s a very loving and loyal dog for the right strong handler to keep him in check. Cooper is a 3 1/2 year old Rottweiler/Doodle mix weighing 98 lbs. Cooper is housebroken, crate-trained, and knows all his commands including sit, stay, down, come, shake and sit pretty! He is a very smart dog. Cooper loves to ride in the car. Cooper's favorite thing is a game of fetch. Cooper is dog friendly but really wants to be a loyal companion dog. He is cat friendly too. Cooper is neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped. Cooper is a Doodle mix and will require grooming and he is not a fan of the clippers around his face and feet, so requires an experienced groomer and some meds to relax him prior to grooming. This is typically $70 every 8-10 weeks. He is good for a bath and everything else just face and feet seem to upset him ;-(. Due to his large size an adult home is best. Helpful if you have large breed experience, or Rottweiler experience...he is a BIG STRONG boy! If you are interested in Cooper, please submit an online application so we can learn a little about you to make sure Cooper would be a good match for you. We do not do out of state adoptions, due to our trial adoption process. Adoption fee/donation is $150.00 If you have specific questions, please email the adoption coordinator at info@loveastraydog.com If you can't foster or adopt, please consider donating to help us with medical expenses and ongoing care. You can mail your donation to: Love-A-Stray, P.O. Box 125, Attn: Cooper, Avon Lake, OH 44012 or visit www.loveastraydog.com for credit card/PayPal information, adoption application, available dogs and upcoming events. Thank you!

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Cooper-ADOPTED!, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
