My story

Weasel is a 3-year-old mixed breed pup with a one-of-a-kind personality and an irresistibly expressive face. He’s an excellent house guest—house trained, crate trained, and generally low to medium energy. He enjoys lounging around the house, going for relaxed walks, and playing a good game of fetch (his absolute favorite!). At home, he’s quiet and respectful, with the occasional bark if someone passes by—more likely in a busier neighborhood, but nothing over the top, especially if you live in a quieter area.Weasel has lived successfully with other dogs, especially calm, well-mannered ones who give him time to settle in. Once he’s comfortable, he can be surprisingly playful! That said, he’d also be perfectly content as the only dog, soaking up all the attention for himself. He has also lived with cats and does well with confident, dog-savvy felines. However, he sees skittish cats as fun to chase, so a home with a bold cat—or no cat at all—would be the best fit.He recently spent time in a foster home on a farm and was a total pro around livestock, calmly exploring alongside horses, pigs, goats, and sheep without issue. He walks well on a leash, enjoys his outings, and is just as happy quietly hanging out at home as your loyal companion.Weasel would do best with a confident handler who has a bit of basic training experience—he’s probably not the best match for a total beginner or a home with young kids due to his shy nature. That said, if you’re training-savvy, you’ll find he’s very easy to work with and highly receptive to guidance.True to his Shiba Inu roots (yes, he was DNA tested!), Weasel can be a little aloof and reserved when meeting new people. But once he knows you, he becomes incredibly affectionate—he loves leaning into you for pets, especially butt scratches, and perks right up for peanut butter and Pupperoni sticks.Weasel may not run up to every stranger with a wagging tail, but he has a heart of gold and is ready to bond deeply with someone who understands his pace. He’s been waiting patiently for his perfect home—maybe it’s yours?Weasel is currently living in one of our wonderful foster homes. Adopting from foster is easy! Email adoptions@hshv.org or call (734) 662-5585 to schedule a time to meet him today.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Weasel, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
