My story

Meet Penelope! This 8-year-old sweetheart is full of charm, wiggles, and love. Her tail does full helicopter spins when she’s happy—which is often—and her love for people knows no bounds. She enjoys lounging in the sun, taking leisurely walks, and enthusiastically greeting you like it’s been five years even if you were only gone five minutes. Her belly rub requests are never-ending. She’s an absolute joy to have around and has blossomed into a healthy, playful girl who now lives for fetch and squeaky toys. Penelope does come with a few special needs—she’s on a prescription diet for urinary health and food sensitivities, and she gets regular medicated baths to keep her itchies under control. She takes her meds like a pro, especially when tucked into pumpkin puree. While she can be a bit clingy and does best crated when home alone, she’s an easygoing gal who just wants to be near her people. Penelope would thrive in a home with a yard, possibly with multiple humans to love on her, and someone who can continue working with her on her social skills with other pets. She comes with her favorite toys and beds, ready to settle into the next (and best!) chapter of her life. Our dogs and puppies go home spayed/neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested (7 months and over), and up to date on core vaccines, heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives. Their adoption also includes a free-vet exam at one of our participating veterinarians.
