Meet Mindy, an adorable tan mixed breed with a heart full of love and the softest soul. She’s a sweet girl who can be a little shy at first, but once she feels comfortable, she blossoms into a total cuddle bug. Mindy knows her basic training cues, and one of her favorite things in the world is curling up in a cozy blanket for a good nap. She absolutely loves gentle pets, snuggles, and going on slow, sniffy walks to take in all the smells and sights around her. Mindy would thrive in a calm home with kids 12 and up. When it comes to other dogs, she’s a bit selective—just like people, she doesn’t love everyone she meets, and that’s totally okay! With her sweet disposition and loving personality, Mindy is ready to be someone’s best friend and blanket buddy for life. When Mindy arrived at Anderson Animal Shelter from their partner shelter in Oklahoma, she tested positive for Heartworm. The staff believes that the best place for Heartworm-positive dogs like Mindy to recover is with a loving and forever family. If you choose to adopt Mindy, the clinic staff will be there every step of the way, answering questions and offering support. The treatment process typically takes about three months and involves some simple at-home steps to keep her safe while she recovers. The final step is a follow-up test six months after the treatment begins. The Heartworm treatment process is highly successful, and the staff anticipates that Mindy will make a full recovery! It’s also important to know that Heartworm is only transmitted by mosquitoes and cannot be spread directly from animal to animal. With the right care and lots of love, Mindy will be back to living her best life in no time! Stop in and meet Mindy in person during our adoption hours. For more information, email info@ahconnects.org or call us at 847-697-2880 x: 0, and the staff will be happy to help you. Our dogs and puppies go home spayed/neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested (6 months and over), and up to date on core vaccines, heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives. Their adoption also includes a free-vet exam at one of our participating veterinarians.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Mindy, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
