My story

Yahtzee is a Domestic Short Hair (DSH)-mix, male, DOB: 1-5-18. Willing to express dramatic shows of affection when he is comfortable and having a great bit of quirkiness, Yahtzee who is almost always upbeat and cheerful, is very interested in his surroundings. Social and just so darn happy-to-be-present, Yahtzee celebrates and shows his contentment with having people being nearby, acknowledging his presence, and head bumping any who accept his affection. One of his more quirky ways of showing affection is licking and sometimes love-biting, which is why we don't recommend him to be in a home with young children. Not hesitant when it comes to initiating interactive play, Yahtzee is lively and engaging with people he knows and trusts. He's also curiously interested in his environment and will be looking for adventure wherever he can find it. Perfectly content to explore on his own too, he enjoys independently prowling and stalking shadows, dust bunnies, toys, or whatever is available - he's even been known to get the zoomies! In all of these activities though he can get overstimulated, so it is important for his people to understand that a soft approach with redirection and encouragement goes a long way with this handsome guy, particularly with interactive play and hands-on attention. Yahtzee came to Monroe SPCA as a stray needing care - he literally showed up at the front door and walked right in! He had small cuts/abrasions on his face from fighting in the neighborhood and was in great need of socialization. We're happy to say that after his neuter surgery, healing, and many, many weeks of spending time with volunteers, he's become a very happy guy who can trust humans. He was also treated for Giardia, Coccidia, Roundworm, and fleas while in our care. Yahtzee is best suited as an indoor pet and companion for a home with a calm, low-active to moderately active lifestyle and no active young children under the age of twelve (12). He is comfortable in the presence of well-mannered, cat-friendly dogs after being given some adjustment time to warm-up and settle into his new surroundings. As with all Monroe SPCA adoptable animals, a home visit and a meet-n-greet with any housemate pets will be required prior to adoption. Yahtzee currently resides at Monroe SPCA’s Adoption Center and Retail Store. You can meet him by appointment with pre-approved adoption application. To start the adoption process, complete and submit Monroe SPCA’s adoption application linked above. All Monroe SPCA cats available for adoption have an adoption fee of $85.00. This fee includes the cat being spayed or neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, dewormed, tested for FeLV and FIV, and microchipped with lifelong registration prior to adoption. Completed applications can be emailed to info@monroespca.org or dropped off at Monroe SPCA’s Adoption Center and Retail Store located at 293 W. Monroe Street, Dundee, MI. For more information message us on Facebook or email info@monroespca.org.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Yahtzee, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
