My story

Hi frenz! My name is JACKSON (they call be "Juven" down here in Mexico) and here is some info about me: PHYSICAL INFO: Breed: Black Lab/Shepherd mix Age: 1.5 years Gender: Male Weight: 45 lbs (20 kg)  Length (nose to butt): 86 cm Height (paws to top of head): 71 cm Height (floor to shoulders): 55 cm Neck Circumference: 42 cm Chest Circumference: 63 cm Current Location: MEXICO CITY RESCUE STORY - I was born in La Marquesa, a mountain near Mexico City. Although I had a field to run in, it was a dangerous place for a puppy like me. I don't know what happened to my mother, one day she went to look for food and didn't come back. I used to sleep in under the trees, it was really cold and getting food wasn't easy, sometimes some people would give me some of their quesadillas, so I had to make my own luck to survive. Last year I saw a family in the distance that came to La Marquesa with some other dogs, I was a brave boy and decided to approach them. The people were really nice to their dogs, they seemed happy. I started to play with their dogs and followed them all along the path through the mountains. Here are some videos of that day on the mountain (video 1, video 2, video 3). It started to get dark and I noticed we were heading back. Everyone started getting into their cars and I though "but what about me?" The kind people began to call me in a friendly way and then one of them put me in the car with the other dogs. I didn't know where I was going, but I felt happy. Soon, I arrived at a house where I have lived ever since! I went to the vet to get a check up and was the bestest boy (video). I now live in my foster home with lots of doggy friends. I am no longer cold and never have to skip a meal. I feel sooo lucky to have been rescued! TEMPERAMENT - I am told that I am a lovely, friendly and sweet boy! I love to get affection from my humans (check out my video!) and am such a tolerant boy when being handled by people I trust. I can sometimes be a bit shy with new people, but I warm up quickly once I know you won't hurt me. I am such a good boy at my foster home. I get along with all my doggy foster siblings, we even eat together. I love walking with my humans and doggy friends (video). I loveeee going on sniffari's (video). Although I am still a puppy, my foster parents say I am a very well behaved boy. I like meeting new friends, playing with toys, and receiving all the love I deserve! I also loveeee ice cream, hehe (video) ENERGY LEVEL - Medium energy. Your typical young lab mix energy - I play hard but I crash hard too!  GETS ALONG WITH:  Kids – Unknown. I am a young and energetic dog, as such, a home without young kids might be best for me (I'd hate to knock a kiddo over!) Dogs –  I get along well with the all the other doggies at my foster home. Check out my videos to see! I go to the dog park here too and I love to run around with the other dogs (video). I would likely do well in a home with another friendly dog playmate to help me build my confidence! Cats – Unknown PREY DRIVE - Unknown. I’m not too sure how I’ll react around cats/squirrels/rabbits etc., so my adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise. TRAINING: Leash skills – Work in progress (but not too bad!). Here are some videos of me on leash so you can see for yourself (video 1, video 2, video 3, video 4). I practice walking past other dogs on the street neutrally (video). I am still young and I will need an adopter who is happy to work with me on my leash manners. I currently live in a suburban environment and so don't have much exposure to busy urban settings. A well-fitted harness and some dedicated leash training will help set me up for success!  House training – Work in progress. Frequent potty breaks and positive reinforcement will help me learn housetraining in my new home :) Please Note: WCP highly encourages adopters to do some research and training on their own before their dog arrives.  HEALTH NOTES: I am neutered and vaccinated. I will come to Canada with proof of all my vaccines and test records. I will be tested for Brucellosis, Parvo, Distemper, and Heartworm before flying North. NOTE: It is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work/cleaning after they are adopted. West Coast Paws does not cover the costs of dental work and/or vet visits. These costs are the financial responsibility of the adopter. ADOPTION FEE: My adoption fee is $840.00 CAD ($750.00 + PST an GST), which includes my airfare, if a flight volunteer is found directly to Vancouver. ------------------------------------- DISCLAIMER: Please visit wcpdogrescue.com to read about West Coast Paws Dog Rescue and its adoption process. The info included in each WCP bio is provided to us from the international rescuer. WCP does not have in-person access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions, although we ask for video proof of a dog's attributes wherever possible. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person(s) adopting them and the environment in which they live.  WCP is unable to guarantee the accuracy of a dogs age and/or breed. These are strictly "best guesses" based on veterinary exams and their educated estimates.  ##1992833##
