My story

NOTE: HEIDI IS AT THE MUNICIPAL ANIMAL SHELTER IN FREMONT, CA. GSRSV HAS HOT MET HEIDI. WE ARE LISTING HER WITH OUR OWN DOGS ON THIS WEBSITE TO GIVE HER MORE ADOPTION EXPOSURE. "Heidi" is an approx 55-60 lb, 2-3 yo spayed female GSD mix who is sweet, gentle and somewhat goofy. Heidi is healthy and up-to-date on core vaccinations. Heidi is somewhat timid with new people, but once she warms up she adores human company. She does wonderfully with children. Heidi does great with other dogs and cats as well. She lived with a cat (see picture on couch) for two weeks in a foster home. Heidi is fully housetrained and when she was in her foster home she even used a bell by the door when she wanted to go outside. She slept on a dog bed next to her foster caretaker’s bed. Heidi is very needy and wants to be with her people all the time. However, when she was in her foster home, her people kept her in a closed room with a baby gate protecting the door and Heidi caused no damage. Heidi is still learning leash manners, but with a Gentle Leader she walks like a pro. Heidi loves car rides and is a very chill passenger. A couple found Heidi last December as a stray in the Quarrey Lakes Regional Recreation Area in Fremont, CA. They fostered her for two weeks but were unable to keep her beyond that time so brought her to the municipal animal shelter in Fremont, where Heidi is currently located. The couple grew very fond of Heidi is the short time she was with them and they are now actively trying to find somebody to adopt her or a rescue group to pull her from the shelter. If you would like to speak directly with the people who found and fostered Heidi, please contact Martin Huang at 513-687-8826 or martinhuangcwp@gmail.com. To contact the Fremont shelter regarding Heidi, call 510-790-6640 or e-mail animalservices@fremont.gov and refer to Heidi's ID #: 187662,

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Heidi, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
