Meet Lady! After being in and out of the shelter a couple of times since 2024 through no fault of her own, she is thriving in foster care. Here's what her foster has had to say about her so far: 4/30/26 - General Update: Lady overall has been doing great and honestly such an easy foster. She was very easy to introduce to my other pets. She is generally a more submissive dog. But as she has gained confidence/come out of her shell, you can see her goofy side and she sometimes tries to sneak toys away from my dogs. She was a bit excitable around the cats initially (especially my cat who tends to run away). But now that she has learned to not come in so hot and heavy, they coexist very well. She cuddles on the couch with the dogs and all five will sit at the kitchen door when its sunny. She still feels most comfortable sleeping in her own room or in my bedroom rather than in the living room with my pets, but I would trust her to be with them full time if she wanted. She loves to bounce around the yard and bark at wildlife (she's discovered deer, squirrels and a very vocal turkey so far). She is fully potty trained with no accidents in the house. She has done well on the walks we've taken, but does not necessarily need a walk every day since we have a big yard that she is happy enough to play in (although I think she would do great on walks if a prospective adopter did not have a yard). She refuses to sleep in a crate but does well in a small room by herself and has not been destructive. She rarely barks inside but will bark at the wildlife, trains, and neighbor dogs when outside. For a 6 year old dog, she has a good mix of playful energy and cuddling/ relaxing. This week we have started noticing some jumping up when greeting people and will jump up to investigate the counters (so the potential to be a counter surfer), which we are working on." Interested in meeting this superstar girl? The first step is to submit an adoption application. Once that's completed, email foster@acctphilly.org for next steps!
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Lady, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
