My story

Meet Rhonda! 13-year-old Rhonda originally came to us from San Diego Humane Society-Escondido in May 2020. She lived in a foster home, where we learned that she was a cuddly couch potato who enjoyed trips to the beach, was great with the other dogs in the house, and loved mealtime. With rave reviews from her foster family, it was no surprise that Rhonda was adopted that August. Sadly, Rhonda was returned to us in late 2023 after her mom passed away. This poor little girl was really struggling after losing her person and her home. Plus, Rhonda had so much weakness in her back legs that we fitted her with wheels. As you can see in the video, she has come a long way in a short time! Soon after Rhonda returned to FFF, a volunteer scooped her up for a two-week Frosted Fling to give her extra TLC in a calm home environment, and Rhonda is doing so well there that it has become her Foster home! We received a great update from Rhonda's Foster Mom: "What a gem of a little lady! Rhonda is so sweet and affectionate with a wonderful temperament. She loves to be cuddled and ride around in her sling. She has even started to give me the sweetest little kisses when I come home. Her favorite is getting her ears rubbed. She is a great eater and on minimal meds for her arthritis and mobility. When Rhonda came in she had lost her ability to walk or hold herself up and spend most of her time sitting. We have been working daily with physical therapy around walking and standing longer and longer. We are also working on helping her potty training. Some dogs with back end weakness or partial paralysis have a hard time eliminating and need help. At this point in her journey, she does needed help while she outside and inside she wears a little lady diaper. Each week we make baby steps around this and hoping it will continue to improve with time. Please don't shy away from thinking about adding Rhonda Roo to your family because she requires a little extra time and attention." Do you have a spot in your heart for sweet Rhonda? Please fill out our placement questionnaire to meet her!

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Rhonda, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
