My story

From his foster family: We have fostered over 50 dogs with the SPCA and have had Zeuster for over 6 months now. We are at a loss as to why anyone hasn't scooped up this gem of a dog yet.!! He is completely housetrained; he's only had one accident in the house and that was our fault. He loves to chew on his bone and he destroys soft toys with an impressive rapidity, but he has never chewed on our things. He is the epitome of "his bark is worse than his bite". If anyone comes to the door or to visit, he sounds like the most vicious guard dog on the planet. In reality he is a bit of a coward! We have found that if the visitors ignore him, he soon relaxes and is usually fast friends with them before they leave. He is mostly uninterested in other four-legged friends. On walks he may pop his head up or briefly pull if another dog is around or barking. But just as often he walks on, appearing not to notice them at all. You will need to invest in a good broom - he is a shedder. But otherwise he is pretty low maintenance. He takes his daily pill (for skin itchiness) very happily with a spoonful of peanut butter. Knows the commands 'sit' 'lay down' and 'stay' (although the latter is SO hard)! Every so often we run into funny Zeuster quirks. For example, recently he decided that walking on the floor in the mudroom is scary. So he hangs out on the rug until, with enough coaching, he works up his courage and decides to make a dash for it. He loves nothing better than to curl up beside you on the couch or in bed, give you a couple of kisses, before settling down to comfortably fall asleep, snoring! All this to say he is a most wonderful dog, and the only demands he will make on you is to love him and remember this world has been scary for him in the past so new things need gentle introductions.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Zeuster, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
